what a great loss by Federer!

I know this topic has been discuss ad nauseum but I thought I should throw in a little twist.

Nadal's victory at the Monte Carlo Masters was decisive, and well deserved. I can't help to think this will somehow penetrate Federer's greater gameplan and mental stamina. Unlike any other Tennis player, Federer comes back and destroys opponents that at one point seemed to own him.

I can give the Agassi, and Hewitt examples but they've discussed before. However, I'm talking about the rivalries such as Keifer and Nalbandian. Those players used to defeat Federer in the Juniors and the early on in his pro career. Now, they're easy opponents on the road to tournament victories.

I think Federer will analyze his gameplan, and go back to playing his game. I think he might even lose the next few matches to Nadal. But somewhere down the road, I think Federer will win a five set match, and then dominate Nadal like his other opponents.

Perhaps he would take a page out of Blake's book and take the high topsin forehand of Nadal's earlier and punish Nadal's short return.

Same could be said about Rafa's loss to Federer in Miami last year. It was a great loss, and it gave Rafa the experienced and confidence to do better things later.

Why is everybody still winning about Federer's loss. Hasn't he won enough this year already. I hope Nadal will continue to beat Federer all the time or else this jerk would continue the most boring domination in tennis history.

If you consider domination as narrow escapes that squeezed every ounce of effort and anger out of him....that's wonderful.
Thank Dad God for his superior footwork, long wingspan and big power.
He faced 4 set points down vs. Hewitt. Old man Agassi gave him a 1-4 deficit.
Davydenko dumped volleys out as he choked away 7 set points in Australia. Federer didn't need to try as he casually missed an easy volley after Baghdatis handed him a 0-3 40-40 hole. Good old domination from good-natured, classy Fed. Doh dee doh. Ho-hum.

I hardly see losing in four sets as narrow margins of victory. Hewitt's may have played better at the US Open but he still lost convincingly; the same goes for Agassi. At the pro level, and especially the top ten having set points against you . Didn't he demolish Baghdatis 6-0 in one set? how is that even close.

He is still the better player.

did you ever consider that perhaps Nadal may also adapt his game to match any adjustments Federer might make? Also, you are comparing Kiefer, one of the biggest headcases in men's tennis, and Nalbandian, who has chronically choked when deep into slams, to Nadal, just about the most consistent and mentally tough tennis player in the world?

Federer by now is firmly planted in Nadal's pocket. Fed may be uncomfortable there, but Rafa owns him, and the best Fed can do is to get used to his new status. He still has trouble accepting it, just like Roddick had some trouble, but a few more losses to Nadal and he will accept it eventually.

Keep living the dream. Won't last long.
