Wilson Force midsize racket

Hi guys,
Is this racket 85 sq in headsize? Is it similar to the wilson graphite force? Looks like it doesnt have the PWS system at 3 and 9 oclock. String pattern is 16x19. How does it play compared to the PS 6.0 85? The handle is with fairway leather so i assume its an old school racket. It should have some classic feel in it. The beam looks boxy. Anyone know the width size? Let me know if anyone has experience with this racket. Thanks!!

Yes, it is an 85, and it is a fiberglass and graphite frame from the mid 1980's. Softer that the PS 6.0 as far as flex goes. Priced below the Wilson Sting.

is it as flexy as the prestige mid?? how wide is the beam? I just purchased one with very good price. I hope it plays up to expectation

The wilson Ultra 2 had similar graphics - but the stripes were orange.

I believe PBODY99 is correct. I knew two people who used it. The last time I saw one was about 7 years ago. If I'm not mistaken, it's 50% graphite and 50% fiberglass. I must have read it in an old Wilson tennis racquet brochure.

the graphite fiberglass composition makes it less stiff than the graphite kevlar i guess? I hope its weight is heavy player type and headlight enough to whip around. Thanks

the racket is beautiful...beam box is about 19.5-20 mm. Headsize is 85 with no PWS system at 3 and 9 oclock like the prostaff. Really heavy 13 oz or so. Only three specifications on the racket are: midsize, string at 65-70 lbs grip 4 1/4 L2, graphite composite and the label itself Wilson Force. Cant wait to play test with it. String pattern is 16x19.

Butt cap is white with 3 characters GOS...no sign of China made but the plastic tag could come off a while ago since this racket came out in 1980s. Condition is quite good 8.5/10 with original multifilament string and W logo. Any chance this could be made in St. Vincent? Anybody ring a bell with this racket?

Deuce, i played test with the racket earlier for 2 hours and the result was amazing. The racket is sweet, very solid on volleys and the best shot is serves. Flat serve were consistent with fairly accurate placements. Kick serves have a lot of spins also. Groundstroke i found very low close to net and penetrating. Topspin is okay not as good as my PS tour 90. I feel it is stiff enough around 64 or 65 close to my ncode sixone 95. The serve return is also my favorite on this one. I can swing out return on my forehand back deep to my opopent. Works well on approach shot also. Slice shots are also low and the racket does bites the ball. I think this could be it...my holy grail The racket is heavy but it is not cumbersome to swing, even easier than the PS tour 90

that racquet is for pros because of the high tension and relatively small head.

well you dont have to be pros to hit this frame. I only framed ball when i rushed to it. If you time the ball and prepare well, it shound be a problem to hit on sweet spot. I found it more forgiven on eastern forehand or hybrid of eastern and semiwestern. I guess a lot of ppl here love the pro staff 6.0 85 for how good it feels when you hit it right on the sweet spot.

Bump on this one. Just nabbed it on the big site; mistakenly listed the mid as a "Force 95" frame. Intrigued how weight/composition will feel. Was this an early incarnation of the Graphite Force?

FedererClone - please do a comparison between the Force and the Graphite Force.....now that you'll have both.

I'm curious to know if they're just cosmetically different. I see that the Force has an open 16x19 string pattern just like the Graphite Force. The beam thickness and dimensions look the same, the paint finish looks matte whereas the Graphite Force has a shiny gloss.

Since it was one of Wilson's "lower tiered" frames it's kinda hard to find some concrete details on these frames now that a quarter century's passed.

Will do VGP. The graphite Force has proved to be my main stick, very stable on plow through. Feels like cork or something in the handle; I have also added lead to the handle to lighten head, feels nice.

Am very intrigued to compare, The stick should be at the post office tomorrow when I drop by. Will fill you in over the next day or two...

Picked her up today. A nice sword! L3 w/grommets like new, hardly used w/original strings.

... but I have the PWS version. Identical to my Reflex 85 and Pro Matrix - Pro Matrix I have is non-PWS, even string pattern but I'm not really a fan of the beam. The only non PWS I hit with is the Graphite Force... was reading some comments from Retrowagon on the ball response to even grid pattern strings earlier...

The dark color on the Force 85 is pretty sweet; almost has a deep blue veneer to the color. Manufactured in Taiwan w/straight lines on dark background that call to mind the original orange-on-black strips on the Ultra 2.
Thin beam, maybe heftier than the Reflex. Intrigued to see how it feels...
And will hunt down the non-PWS version!

Anyone care to speculate on the composition of the frame? is it 50/50 graphite/fiberglass?

re: even/variable density issue: With so many sticks non-pws... was there a Wilson 'should we have PWS or not' dilemma/syndrome? Does PWS really add stability and minimize torque? Were racquets braided in Taiwan? ... can you argue with the SV 85 6.0? Blah, blah, blah ...

Hit with her tonite; there is more flex in the frame yet it is heavy and steady. Off center hits are not too forgiving, very sweet slice BH action, felt nice on the 1HBH and very soild serving. It's a bit more "whippy" than the Graphite Force (my main stick right now and thicker at like 20mm or so, so it took some adjustment ~ Tennis Man you should really give the Graphite Force a ride, you won't regret it)

As for Force 85 PWS? I would say it's a better stick than the Reflex. I actually brought the Reflex along to compare, but for some reason it didn't jive w/my game in the same vein as the Force 85... I have to say that I do not like the graphite matrix and pro matrix frames at all (same mound different construction) but the Force 85 w/PWS is definitely a sister frame to the Reflex. More flex than the Reflex but somehow feels better. maybe 70/30 or 60/40 graphite/fiber construction? Not too sure it's 50/50 as that pretty flexible. Original strings in stick and had some nice feel: a few BH slice returns on some hard serves came low and deep to the server that gave him a lot of trouble. The stick has nice feel for sure...

Would love to find the stats like we have on Reflex...
