Wimbledon First Round Retirements

Isn't it strange that only a year after a record for Men's singles first round retirements in GS was equaled, we are seeing history repeat itself.

5 Men's singles retirements (7 last year)
2 Ladies' singles retirements
2 Men's doubles retirements (that's 2 of 4 first round matches played so far, with the first round not even completed yet)

What are your thoughts? Is this just an unfortunate strange occurrence, or is there a method to all this?

Too much high pressure, stress filled tennis, too close together, IMO. The French and Wimbledon should be at least a month apart, not 3 weeks. Another factor could be guys not getting used to the grass, leading to slipping and injuries. But to me, the schedule is the bigger problem, having to play so much tennis to prepare for the French, then playing the French, then playing so much to prepare for Wimbledon, by the time you're at Wimbledon, you're burned out.

I don't see why tennis doesn't have weeks off within the season. At least 1 off week every 2 months or so, to give guys time to regroup mentally and physically.
