Beautiful. Plays pretty close to a woody and very nice considering those impressive stats. Great allcourt stick.

You know I really wish I could go back to my 200G.

Everything's wonderful. . . except the serve. And that's something I've come to depend upon.

the graphics on this max 200g version have been referred to as "australian." can anyone explain why?

Hi, well it's the great "naming the 200G" debate:)

A few people here thought that this version was mainly sold in Australia, that's the reason. I don't agree with this though. Just from my experience, I bought 3 of these from 3 different sellers, all of which came from and sold from the UK.

Also I don't call it teal. I call it the "green with red/white chevrons" 200G:)

Whenever I see the word "teal", I think of a seal for some reason LOL:)

Teal isn't used much over in the UK. I think the racket starts a light bluey green (could be described as teal I suppose) and then blends into dark green at the top!

I live in Australia and have not seen one of these before.

Yes, I don't think these were mainly sold in Australia!

I'm currently compiling a new list of all the different 200G's. It is taking longer than I expected, and I still need to find out a few things, so will take another few weeks yet!

I certainly wasn't going to include where the different versions came from, as threre doesn't seem to be much agreement.

The so called "asian" version from about 1990 (which is slightly lighter and stiffer than other versions), again seems to not have been sold mainly in Asia (if that's why it is called that, does anyone know?). I've got 3 of these, and again got all 3 from different UK sellers.

I think the McEnroe (Wimbledon US Open Winner) version from 85 was definitely a US only version of the 200G. As all of these that I've come across have come from the US originally!

The later 1989/90 versions with "PROII" on do seem to be Japanese versions, again anyone know please?

of greatest interest to me is hoe to get ahold of the mcenroe commemorative racquet - i have only seen one in decent shape.

also i have two of the light gray-green/red max200g pro II - they both came from Australia.

Yes, I agree about the light grey/teal/green etc (red/white chevron) PRO II version coming from Australia as that's where mine came from!

But the normal light grey/teal/green (red/white chevron) version seems to come from UK I think?

By the way are you aware of a light grey/teal/green (red/white chevron) version with just PRO on it? As I've never seen or heard of one of these!

When I was young I was sponsored by Dunlop. I started in 1983 with the 200G and used every single iteration right apart from the commemorative 'Grand Slam' version.

The 'teal' certainly seemed more common here in Australia. However, there was never any talk of it being designed specifically for our market and that isn't the sort of thing you fail to mention when you're trying to sell something.

Perhaps a reason why people think it was made specifically for Australia is that they're getting the 200G confused with the 2000G, a much cheaper racquet that had almost identical cosmetics. I do believe that was made just for Australia, at least in those particular colours.

As to the performance of the 'teal', every single 200G user that I knew, hated it. It felt stiffer (not saying it was - just that it felt that way) than any of the other models and the cosmetics were, by comparison, horrendous. Fortunately, I was able to swap mine for some of the older model and I don't know anyone who actually made the change. I do recall Rennae Stubbs and Joanne Faull using it at the 88' Aus Open (yep, Stubbs has been around that long) and I have a feeling that was the year I was given mine.

Was that 2000G called Max2000 or Max2000G or just 2000G? And was it in teal colours? I've seen one in the "normal" black/green colours but never teal. And it wasn't an IMF racquet as had grommets etc. and I agree they seemed to come from Australia!

I'd like to buy a 2000G anyway as I havn't got one yet:(

I had one i recently sold on the bay, mine was MAX2000, and was a far inferior racquet to any of the G versions. I'll see if i can find a pic of it.

That's the one I was thinking of! But bit gutted you've sold yours already:(

Will keep looking for one for my collection, even though I know it is a poor copy of a real 200G!

AndrewD. I am interested to know what you used when you moved on from the 200G.
Did you change to something completley different in feel or manage to find something similar?

As usual there are more questions than answers with this great racquet:(

What I would really like to know, is anyone aware of the 200G PRO teal/green (red/white chevrons) version?

Like I said I'm doing some research into the 200G which I'll put up here when I've finished it. I'm obviously aware of the normal teal/green (red/white) and the PROII version. But does anyone know if the PRO version of the teal/green (red/white chevrons) version exists?

I'd have thought it would, and actually have a green PRO cover that looks like it's made for it. But I've never seen or heard it definitely exists. Realise this is boring for some, but for 200G collectors this is important stuff:)

There's never been anything remotely similar to the 200G in terms of feel so the only thing sensible thing to do was just move on to something I liked and played well with. After the 200G I moved on to the Prince Precision Mono although I also moved on to a 12-13 year break from tennis.

As I pointed out, the teal 200G was being used by Renee Stubbs and Joanne Faull at the 1988 Australian Open. It most certainly appeared before 1990.

Yes I know, Maxxply was asking about the racquet in the photo, I suggested 1990 for that racquet in the photo!

Hi MAXXply, I am not sure about the year of this model... will wait for jimbo333's updated list!

However, noticed that the graphics on this version looks somewhat similar to the ones on 500i & 800i. Below is a picture of a 500i.

It was just a cheaper Dunlop racquet trying to cash in on the success of the 200G. Standard construction. NOT injection moulded. Very common here in Australia and you'd see them in every tennis shop but I don't remember ever seeing anyone using one. Basically just a cheap and nasty racquet that wasn't worth wasting your money on. Wouldn't be surprised if they're rare today for the simple reason that most of them broke or were broken.

Hi mate, just to say that I think the 500i and 800i both were made originally in about 1990, the same time as the 200G (Shiny black with turquoise/gold) as seen in Maxxply's photo!

(The "teal" version is different, it's green with red/white chevrons)

Oh and there is also a 400i similar graphics to 500i and 800i, anyone seen that one?

Interesting, 123ten - Dunlop really seemed to be wielding the spraycan around that time :)
Cheers too, Jimbo, for your help.

I never owned one, wouldn't have wasted my money on it. The last ones I saw new were with the green colour scheme although I noticed that one with Black decals is currently on the big auction site.
