the graphics on this max 200g version have been referred to as "australian." can anyone explain why?
I live in Australia and have not seen one of these before.
i am interested
of greatest interest to me is hoe to get ahold of the mcenroe commemorative racquet - i have only seen one in decent shape.
also i have two of the light gray-green/red max200g pro II - they both came from Australia.
When I was young I was sponsored by Dunlop. I started in 1983 with the 200G and used every single iteration right apart from the commemorative 'Grand Slam' version.
The 'teal' certainly seemed more common here in Australia. However, there was never any talk of it being designed specifically for our market and that isn't the sort of thing you fail to mention when you're trying to sell something.
Perhaps a reason why people think it was made specifically for Australia is that they're getting the 200G confused with the 2000G, a much cheaper racquet that had almost identical cosmetics. I do believe that was made just for Australia, at least in those particular colours.
As to the performance of the 'teal', every single 200G user that I knew, hated it. It felt stiffer (not saying it was - just that it felt that way) than any of the other models and the cosmetics were, by comparison, horrendous. Fortunately, I was able to swap mine for some of the older model and I don't know anyone who actually made the change. I do recall Rennae Stubbs and Joanne Faull using it at the 88' Aus Open (yep, Stubbs has been around that long) and I have a feeling that was the year I was given mine.
Great info thanks
Was that 2000G called Max2000 or Max2000G or just 2000G? And was it in teal colours? I've seen one in the "normal" black/green colours but never teal. And it wasn't an IMF racquet as had grommets etc. and I agree they seemed to come from Australia!
I'd like to buy a 2000G anyway as I havn't got one yet
I had one i recently sold on the bay, mine was MAX2000, and was a far inferior racquet to any of the G versions. I'll see if i can find a pic of it.

I have one of these, which I could add to our "trade list". Will be in touch shortly. Thanks for info
That's the one I was thinking of! But bit gutted you've sold yours already
Will keep looking for one for my collection, even though I know it is a poor copy of a real 200G!
Sorry if this has been answered previously but can anyone tell me where this version sits in the 200G lineage...I'm thinking somewhere around 1990?

AndrewD. I am interested to know what you used when you moved on from the 200G.
Did you change to something completley different in feel or manage to find something similar?
Yes, I reckon about 1990
I've listed all this in this thread:-
As I pointed out, the teal 200G was being used by Renee Stubbs and Joanne Faull at the 1988 Australian Open. It most certainly appeared before 1990.

Andrew, if you could please let me know about this 2000G, I'd really appreciate it, thanks
It was just a cheaper Dunlop racquet trying to cash in on the success of the 200G. Standard construction. NOT injection moulded. Very common here in Australia and you'd see them in every tennis shop but I don't remember ever seeing anyone using one. Basically just a cheap and nasty racquet that wasn't worth wasting your money on. Wouldn't be surprised if they're rare today for the simple reason that most of them broke or were broken.
Hi MAXXply, I am not sure about the year of this model... will wait for jimbo333's updated list!
However, noticed that the graphics on this version looks somewhat similar to the ones on 500i & 800i. Below is a picture of a 500i.

Interesting, 123ten - Dunlop really seemed to be wielding the spraycan around that time
Cheers too, Jimbo, for your help.
And what about this one
The rare second version of the 400i that I was talking about!
Now thats NICE...! More pics please Jimbo
Thanks
Just wondered please was yours a teal colour or the normal black with green detailing etc?
