Djokovic played horrible in the beginning for whatever reason. Must've been the last 2 losses he had against Nadal. Once Nadal let Djokovic take the 3rd set, now Nadal is starting to believe that the result will be like the last 3 slams.

Uncle Toni is going to take tomorrows 4th set resumption personally. This is a test of Uncle Toni's tennis brain, and if it goes 5 sets then a test of Nadal's mental strength.

This actually helps Djokovic in the long run. He'll be less stressed and will have time to speak with his coach.

Luck?? The luck was all Djok's. If it hadn't started raining more heavily then this would be over. If it was a dry sunny day this was straight sets. As soon as it got really damp, Rafa's game is completely nullified. The luck is with Djokovic, not Nadal.

Nadal will have time to meditate with uncle and get some pain killers as well.

Momentum was on Djok side, wasnt it? Nadal was irritated and angry. He was doing more running and a little bit winded as well. This will definitely help him more.

yeah because the weather should always favour nadal

He's the greatest clay courter in history, yet whenever he struggles it's because the clay is not to his liking. It's ridiculous. He should still have the clear edge even if it's raining a bit. It was not unplayable, it was just favouring Djokovic. Tough, that's outdoors tennis, conditions change. He got 2 sets and a break up before the conditions stopped favouring him and he should still have been able to win. I wasn't complaining it's too sunny at the start of the match. I wasn't complaining in the 2008 final that Wimbledon plays to nadal's favour in the final when the grass gets worn.

This is nadal's 8th RG, why should every match every year suit him?

Rafa wasn't getting tired, he was getting frustrated.

He was getting tired and frustrated both. He is always more worn out than Djoko in their long matches. The reason is that he plays more defense, and thereby does more running (and the amount run is actually close), which is detrimental because Nadal has a bigger frame than Djoko and tires sooner.

That said, most importantly the reason is that Nadal's shotmaking technique is inefficient compared to Djoko. He spends WAAAY too much energy into each forehand. Even if both Djoko-Nadal hit 40 shots standing on the same spot, it will be Nadal who will feel the brunt of the effort. That's why he's the one who looks worn in almost all of their previous 5 set matches. There is no one who makes Nadal work for points than Djoko. The extra spin on Nadal's ball slows it down and Djoko tracks them making Rafa rally longer..

i just cannot imagine Djoko starting out as firm as he was with full adrenaline. and also Rafa fresh as a daisy with foot work..

too bad :(

I agree, this break ruins djokovic's momentum.. I have a feeling that Rafa will break him right on the start and take the lead 3-2 in the fourth set, then we will see.

John McEnroe saying that it's not raining as hard currently as it was while they were playing...Looks like the players had a say in whether or not they'd come out.
Yes, I heard they were to come out at ~ 8 pm or so, and get in an hour of play till 9:30 . Then suddenly it was suspended. So seems although they were ready to resume play but some player said no.

I can tell there are going to be a bunch of ass-holey type of threads in the next 16 hours, so I'll only be posting on this thread.

i was thinking you would be creating at least one of them

seriously though, if this match goes 5 this thread will be ridiculously long..

Especially if I get my 2nd wish and this match goes 3 days. I wonder what that German tournament will do, if Nadal was supposed to play there tomorrow. Hope he just pulls out anyway. Might as well just practice at Wimbledon instead of the tune-up event.

Nadal is heavier and more muscular than Djokovic. Probably 10lbs heavier. Djokovic is like elastic.

i like how you didn't show up when nadal was up 2 sets and a break

I don't post during the matches very often. It's not anything new for me to not post until after the matches, but nice try.

Oh,and you were wrong. Are you going to admit it like you demand of me?

Djok isn't a great starter to matches, which we have seen many times. He throws a lot of UE's in and seems to take two hours to get going. He can't afford that again tomorrow.

Luck is for Nadal in the fact that he was playing the worst version of Djokovic ever seen. Djokovic 1.5 has now emerged and the match is now actually competitive.
Nadal's getting broken all over the place. It just shows how ridiculously poor Nadal's draw has been. He's going to have to earn his trophy. Djokovic isn't going to bend over for him like Nadal's spanish pigeons.

He is bigger framed yes, but also fitter. Look at the Aus Open final. Rafa was full of running in the 5th. Djok was spent.

No one outlasts Rafa physically.

Tosh. The court simply got wet which completely nullified Rafa's game and would against anyone. If today had been dry the match was over in three.

That said, Rafa was playing poorly too. They both were.

I never EVER predicted Nadal in 3. I only voted for Nadal in 3 in the poll, just to show my support for Nadal, but I never thought it would happen. My only posts regarding the outcome were-

Right now I want an epic 5 setter so Djokovic sniffs The Djokovic Slam but has the door shut in his face on the stroke of midnight.

Good, I like a long final. 2 days hopefully.

Only thing is tomorrow is supposed to be even more rainy. Maybe it will be a 3 day final!

Good idea, I hope it's 3.

Nadal was about to fall over during the post match ceremony. He was dead. What the hell are you blabbering about?

That's exactly what I said, please try to improve your reading skills next times as it would save you quite some times. And too bad, the poasts that you're quoting only appeared after outcome which I guess is your way to reduce all that internal embarrassment. Just a guess, I don't read minds like you do

Oh, and I do not have the spare time like you to dig at people's poasting history hahahaha

You don't want nadal playing some warmup matches and possibly beating fed to level the grass H2H?

during the first 2 sets and 2 games you were probably jumping up and down with joy.

Also you never do admit you're wrong, so why should I when nadal is still 2 sets to 1 up and the match has been delayed just when nadal needs it to be? Basically nadal was killing Djokovic like i knew he would. If Djokovic can rescue it from 2 sets and a break down that is something NO-ONE could predict. You didn't, you thought it would be straight sets

I said he'd lose unless he played much btter, played the same and was getting killed, upped his game and started serving well and he started winning. I was right in everything I said.

Please! Djokovic played like crap in the first 2 sets. Not even close to his best. He couldn't even hit a first serve to save his life.

I'm so glad those Monaco, Ferrer, and Almagro thrashings gave us some insight into how Nadal would supposedly routine Djokovic.

Oh wait.....

The tennis world now knows that Djoker is capable of DESTROYING Nadal at RG. That 3rd set was just a taste. If it weren't for Nadal's massive luck, Novak would have won already.

Question: If Djoker wins tomorrow, who Career Slam will be greater:

Djoker or Rafa.

My vote goes to the Djoker, because he would have beaten Da Man on his home turf.

Nadal doesn't play his best in the Wimbledon tune-ups, or at least not at Queens where he lost to Lopez 2010 and Tsonga 2011, and later apologized to the tournament director for a lack of effort in the 3rd set of the Tsonga match. He seems to want to lose in the QFs. So I'd prefer he play Federer when fully invested, at Wimbledon and the Olympics.

Nope. I don't behave that way. Plus, the match isn't over until it's over, and I figured Nadal would blow it,and he did just that.

Because it's over, and everyone knows it. Nadal blew it when he went on a walkabout because he couldn't hack a little bit of rain and lost the 3rd set. Just wait until tomorrow and see for yourself.

lmao. So now the clay GOAT is completely nulified if it isn't dry and sunny? So basically he is useless unless the clay in the right colour, at the right height above sea level, if the sun is warm enough, if the clay is from RG or MC etc... this is too funny.

Conditions change, Nadal is the clay GOAT he should be able to play on damp clay. He's played RG for 8 years, and played hundreds of clay matches, he should be used to damp clay. Ridiculous excuse making.

Let's not get carried away. I mean, Nole did benefit from the rain after being down 2 sets before the rain delay. He only entered god-mode only after the rain delay. If they had continued playing, I'd have to give the match to Nadal. Nadal did benefit from the 2nd rain delay for Nole was gaining momentum and looked like he could possibly win the match. To sum it up, both benefited from the rain delays- with Nole a little bit more IMO.

If Nadal wins the 4th set, it will be an emphatic win, given that it is the same conditions that Soderling beat him in, or even wetter than those conditions. I'm happy to see this go to 5 though, just to make the event more epic.
