I think they look pretty good here on Jo Willy.

It seems they are trying to make it lighter. How much does it weigh?

In a UK size 8, the 'normal' barricade weighs 388 grams, which is heavier than the 2016 shoe that weighed 370 grams. So only a minuscule difference in weight
In a UK size 8.5, the barricade boost weighs 399 grams, the exact same as the 2016 shoe

yeah they look fine but Im not wearing pastel colors... The black boosts look ok I like black n green or black n orange color schemes. I can wait till about april to get new shoes so perhaps they will have something that isnt meh by then. A nice dark blue and black and or silver is always acceptable too. Id love a multigreen dark to chartreuse pair of barricades actually.

Actually that's very light compared to sizes 10+. 388 g is 13.68 oz, that is as light as a speed shoe. I guess smaller feet have the advantage of lifting lighter shoes.

Bought the blue/white ones. Fit my narrow feet well but idk about the rest of you guys. Interesting design with the tongue on these

Hmm...will they grow on me or have they already grown on me??? yeah from that side, yeah those are pretty cool looking
I'm worried about the lacing and the tongue. The tongue is so thin, I feel like putting on the laces tight will hurt my feet.

On the flip side, I like the upper material, if it can stretch It can accommodate my wide feet.

They feel great. Surprising cushion under the forefoot (for a Barricade). Length is spot on to the Boosts I have on in the pic. Roomy toe box. Tongue is thinner (which I don't like), but there's no pinching for me. It's not paper thin like the old adizeros. Laces are significantly shorter. I can usually double-knot Barricades even after a runner's loop, but these I can barely tie once. Cool thing is they've constructed a new heel on the inside (Geofit), which seems to grab the heel and minimize slippage. Usually adidas messes up the Barricade every other year, but these are a nice update.

Thanks for the report.

Good to hear about the increased forefoot cushion.

The tongue on the B2015/6 was already too thin, so I am appalled that it has gotten even thinner.

Regarding the shoe lace, could the perceived shorter length have something to do with the way you laced the extra holes on the top?

How about the upper material? Is it soft and comfortable like the B7 and B2015/16 or is it the tough and uncomfortable type of B8?

Sounds like a great update all around. I'll be curious about the upper's comfort too, but I think I'm already sold! They used Geofit in some of their basketball shoes, and it sounds like a great addition to the Barricade. This will be great for guys like me with small heels who tend to have problems with heel slippage.

Same here. I wonder if it's possible to do a ghetto mod and somehow attach or stitch a foam piece from another shoe onto the tongue of these?

I lace all my tennis shoes the same. I think adidas laced them up with a Girl's 5 1/2. Definitely gonna have to go buy new laces. I did a cardio workout for 30 minutes and walked around in them most of the afternoon. No discomfort. Ever since I saw a video of Nadal being handed new shoes and then bending them and twisting them in half, I follow suit. It's been a few years since I've worn Vapors, so I don't know if I'm allowed to compare the mesh uppers on both. Definitely nowhere near as stiff as the B8.

yeah Im all for the lighter cades though I love the 2016's I have... I do rather like the dark blue ones with orange accents too. Ive got enough tread on my 2016's to last me until april when I really start to play more often. Then Ill snag the black n green or something better.

more tongue for Adidas really?

Just looks like they're running out of ideas and just mashed up some elements of old models and called this a new model. The designers took a holiday and the ojts just went to town with what they had.

Horrible horrible design.

There was very little wrong with the 2015 and 2016 models, so why mess up a good thing? Besides, Geofit in the heel area and more cushioning in the forefoot will be nice improvements, more than I expected.

Not a fan of the silhouette. The cage looks off especially with that "milky" color on the white ones. The milky cage reminds me of the cage on the Triple White Ultra Boosts 3.0 version, which I'm also not a fan of (the milky cage specifically, it's a great shoe).

I am looking at getting a new pair of shoes and was looking forward to trying Adidas shoes because of the boost. I have Adidas NMDs and Ultra Boosts and the boost material is really comfortable. But these shoes look really ugly. The plastic piece that wraps around the foot and goes up the side looks awful.

I have the 2015 version, and while I probably won't be rocking them much outside the tennis courts, I think they look fine on the courts. If you can't get past the looks, you can look at Adidas basketball shoes. Almost all of their top models now have full length Boost and the cheaper ones have Bounce, which is pretty good too.

If you want the Boost, you can try the Tennis Energy Boost. Personally, I didn't like the fit and found the Barricade Boost to be more comfortable. I also like the looks of the Barricade better than the TEB, but to each their own. Based purely on aesthetics, I'd wear Vapors all day long. If you wait till summer/fall, you'll have these colors to choose from (but if you can't get past the plastic piece, these may not entice you):
Barricade Boost - Core Black/Equipment Yellow, Scarlet/Nigh Metallic/Dark Burgundy, White/Silver Metallic/Core Black
Barricade - Equipment Yellow/White/Grey, Dark Burgundy/Scarlet

hows that high looking arch support. Is it really pronounced?
is it high arch inside. My flat feet are crying just looking at that plastic support.
does that ankle collar rub at all.A blister issue maybe??
.Any rubbing parts like the b7 against the top near the eyelet?
Still think the B7 is the best .STABILTY is priceless
Man,Sigh; gone are the days of the padded tongue.remember match day pumps.Reebok made the best tongues for tennis shoes

I love the B7. I'd wear the Novak Pro's (which are the Barricade 7) if Novak's goofy mug wasn't taking up the entire tongue. I don't have anything against Djokovic, but adidas needs to do more special editions with graphics on the tongue. I don't think the outside plastic piece changes the arch at all on the B17. My go-to move when I try on new shoes is jumping jacks. If I can do those and not feel any pinching, slipping or discomfort then I'm good to go.

On TW it says that the length is "slightly long" though Racquet Daddy said they're true to the previous Barricade Boosts, anyone else confirm or deny? Other than the orange creamsicle colorway I might want to upgrade to these if they have better forefoot cushioning, but if they run long then nope

I just get my normal 10.5 US.

Generally most Adidas shoes I've tried run almost a half size longer than most brands anyway. So I wouldn't consider this to be a surprise. Running long is no big deal to me. Order a half size down and you're fine.

I wear a 10.5 with all of the Barricades I have played in. I trust TW when they recommend going up or down 1/2 a size, which they don't with this shoe. They just say slightly long. I put both shoes back on now that I've broken in the B17 a bit, and I agree that my big toe placement is a tad different than the B16 Boost. But it's not enough that I would go down to a 10. I actually have a 10 in the Navy back at the courts. I'll try it on and report back.

So I tried on the size 10 B17, and I'll stick with my 10.5. The only shoes I've gone down half a size for are adidas' running shoes. If you take a look at racket king's top view of the Mystery Blue B17 near the top of this page, my big toe hits right where the knit upper ends on the 10.5 and then right on that seam on the 10. I'm guessing that's like 1/4 of an inch difference.

They do look a little feminine but hopefully they are functional. I will be talking to one of the guys I play with to try these as he still wears b8 and the upper seems scary similar but he loves them. Therefore if he likes I will likely dislike as I hated b8 and he disliked b2015. On the bright side I made it through 2016 on 2pair of b2015, first pair of b2016 on the way. Looks like I may skip 2017 iteration though........ we'll see!

Just tried my Orange Boost 2017 on today. Upper is much softer than the B8 material. There's some additional support around the heel and the ankle collar feels nice with memory foam. I think this is going to be a great shoe once I get on the court. My only initial complaint was the laces seem ridiculously short.
