Ballboys look like college students!
I attended. Most were … except for one particular ball “girl” who must’ve been 60. No kidding.

Winning a 500 against a fringe top 100 player isn't really what we had in mind.Astounding that there is not more interest in this win by Sinner. So many people have been crying for younger champions, but now that there is one it's almost been ignored.
What "we" had in mind?Winning a 500 against a fringe top 100 player isn't really what we had in mind.
He was already in a Masters final this year so it's not like this is some huge breakthrough.
JMDP won Washington at a slightly younger age (about a month younger).Congrats to Sinner on winning his 3rd ATP title, 2nd this season and 1st at 500 level. He becomes the 1st Italian player to win in Washington and the youngest player ever to win an ATP500 event.
Congrats also to McDonald on making a fine run to the final and making it such a close match. He just missed out on joining the list of maiden titlists this season.
Oh, you obviously are amnesiac about Rafael Nadal in 2005. One slam, 4 M1Ks and at least 2 500 titles. All at a much younger age than Sinner/JMDP at Washington.Congrats to Sinner on winning his 3rd ATP title, 2nd this season and 1st at 500 level. Oh, let’s split hairs. JMDP won the very same tournament the last year it was International Series Gold. Nadal has now won ATP500 Barca 8x instead of 12x because of ATP name changing. Thanks for clearing that up for all of us!"Teenagers had been 0-5 in ATP 500 finals since the category was created in 2009."
It seems to be a technicality based on the name "ATP 500" that apparently started in 2009. I don't know the history, but I think that's what it is about.

I’ll apply then! My synopsis was posted immediately after the final was completed on the preceding page of this thread and was ridiculed for the slim chance of Sinner winning this week to join JMDP as 4x teen titleists, just 12 back of The Nadal.Alas, I guess I allowed the ATP website to mislead me. This is what they said:
"The Italian overcame his nerves and American Mackenzie McDonald 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 on Sunday to win the Citi Open and became the youngest ATP 500 champion since the category was created in 2009. No other teen has lifted a trophy at the level."
Someone should fire whoever wrote this!
Congratulations Nuclear Warhead Sinner! - Just when you dumped the guy in disgust and changed your monika he comes through and proves you right ! @Nuclear Warhead LOL ! ;-)
Above Yannick Sinner.
Yes, according to TTW logic it would have become impossible for a teen with two titles (at the time of posting) to reach ATG had he lost to Jetson Astroby. Throw him in the trash bin! You know very well he has serious choking problems. You also know very well his current game won't get him far. If you don't, you're delusional. All your predictions are based on Sinner making massive improvements, and I currently don't see him being capable of that. It would take a literal self rediscovery to achieve Rublev level solidity and consistency and an even greater ecdysis to get to ATG level. Musetti has much higher chances of becoming an ATG than Sinner does.Yes, according to TTW logic it would have become impossible for a teen with two titles (at the time of posting) to reach ATG had he lost to Jetson Astroby. You should have seen him this week. You clearly missed out. First serve was way better, second serve was an improved kicker, getting stronger in the legs all the time, excellent volleying and overall killer instinct this week. You know very well he has serious choking problems. Experience can only get you so far and Sinner is not as naturally talented as people may think.
Yeah, right. I’m the bolded part and you’re not by touting another youngster for solidity when Rublev went from winning just one teen title and a slam QF to outside top 100 in 18 months? You know very well he has serious choking problems. Can I give 100 likes???You should have seen him this week. You clearly missed out. First serve was way better, second serve was an improved kicker, getting stronger in the legs all the time, excellent volleying and overall killer instinct this week.
This was just one week, but clearly improved in the last 6 weeks or so. The gains are startling.
I only wish there were two grass seasons like the 1970s, where he could go Down Under in the off-season to work on his Achilles heel surface. Maybe Piatti will send him on a mini-break to a mild climate destination that has grass courts playable during the off-season. Antalya? I have no idea if the grass stays playable in December???It's tough to judge week-to-week, but the trend line is a young man that is not only improving, but improving pretty rapidly.

Sir Andrew tweeted many a compliment about Jetson…a thinking man with volleys and backhand slice like the great Florian Mayer."TTW logic" the original oxymoron.
Jetson is already at ATG - Watch that kid go - plays like a well know Bin Man Bum - Well, so TTW says - Can't see it meself !
Don't see how "Nuclear Warhead" Sinner can be disparaging of Sinner now !
Anyway, is it not so refreshing to be discussing new "GOAT material" ( LOL! ) rather than the same OLD Fedalovic nonsense, the staple here for what feels like the last 150 bloody years !
Those guys are so FINNISH it's untrue. LOL !
Can wait to see Sinner or Astroby taking down a tired, decrepit, hysterically unhinged Jokersmash SOON !
Above : Jetson Astroby.

Sinner captures the title, 7-5 in the third. He joins JMDP as a teen champion at Washington and could possibly tie the Tower of Tandil at 4 teenage trophies if he grabs the Toronto title this next week, his last as a teenager. Scary stat to consider: even if he does win Toronto for that fourth title as a teen he would just be reaching one-quarter the haul by teenage Nadal. No one will ever touch that record.
I did not know that the name ATP500 was coined so recently. That was my only point. I'm not disagreeing with what you posted. And I explained everything more clearly than ATP just minutes after the final
He had it figured out early in the second and was finishing points at the net. You’ve nailed the formula with Sinner. I really like him but he’s built like a giraffe and I’m wondering at his longevity if he doesn’t take advantage of his power to finish off points earlier against these guys who can chase down everythingTextbook sin win. Dominate, take a lead, choke, don't let it get to you. Rinse and repeat about 5 times within the same match. Still far from the player I envisioned in Bergamo, but all in all, not too bad for a teen.
I didn’t imply you were disagreeing, only that I had posted the appropriate information long before @Mainad added on his recitation of the ATP generated misinformation.I did not know that the name ATP500 was coined so recently. That was my only point. I'm not disagreeing with what you posted.
This would be very accurate about Mac. Have you ever seen the set he won at a Challenger from 4-4 while serving underhanded due to injury occurring when he was a break up?Only watched about a set and 1/2. To me the most interesting aspect was mac looked like he was hanging on but clearly doesn't have any big weapons... maybe other his mind and playing smarter.. Sinner just has more gears...
Misinformation annoys me, so I understand your point. However, at the moment how the ATP labels a tournament or hypes winners if very VERY low on my personal list of "Important Things". I'm talking about Covid, of course, the one thing we are not allowed to talk about here.I didn’t imply you were disagreeing, only that I had posted the appropriate information long before @Mainad added on his recitation of the ATP generated misinformation.
Let me go out on a limb with a real “Rand” then…Duke School of Medicine should sue for damages to their reputation after the latest statements by their alum, the Junior Senator from Kentucky.Misinformation annoys me, so I understand your point.
