David Ferrer appreciation thread.

David Ferrer has had a great career. Works very hard, never gives up on court, makes the most of the talent he was born with. 27 singles titles, a major final plus five other semi finals, $30 million in prize money, and 715 career wins (the most of any majorless player) is not to be sniffed at.

But he gets very little love, as we focus most our attention on the big four, or Kyrgios' antics. We simply don't have much time for a good honest professional who is also a decent guy and doesn't get involved in any drama. Not everyone can be John Lennon, there has to be a Ringo Starr aswell.

David Ferrer is an example that, even if you aren't the very best at what you do, you should still maximize your potential. So leave any David Ferrer appreciation comments you have here, please :)

Ugh...

Way too overrated already. Why not start a Jiri Novak thread? They are about as significant.

I always liked him and still love to watch his games ... great defense, never gives up ... i sometimes thought there must have been a coach in spain that put that will to never let a ball go into then youngsters like Nadal and Ferrer. Maybe he was just to "normal" to get the big headlines, but a superb player none of the less. And a pretty good sportsman too !!

For good club players he's a player worth studying on YouTube clips for an economic style that won't break down in match play, and watch his feet.

While Ferrer's grit needs to be praised and honored , he was the ultimate gatekeeper to the big 4.

If he had not been there , chances of Monfils, Tsonga, Berdych, Wawrinka level players would have had more success against the top 4.

A scrutiny of his titles would reveal most were achieved in tournaments and draws without the big 4.

The whole of tt is dedicated to him and everyone knows it. Why do we need a specific thread to honor him?

He's 35 years old.

Has has a few injuries and is past his best, but did win the Swedish open and has a win over Thiem this year.
