FAKE prostaff 6.0 85 CHINA ???

Rookie
i just got one off the famous auction site and i received it today
but when i held it in my hands, it feels much lighter compared to my
pro staff tour 90(which has a shrink wrap, a grip and an overgrip on it)
and the paintjob on the ps 6.0 looks very awkward.
it is the CHIAO TA version
on the inside of the throat there is the PWS information and beneath that is
"braided construction exclusively manufactured by CHIAO TA"

on the other side there is the tension range 50-60
head size 85
use wilson sensation string and fairway grip
to the right of these specs there is a box that says: SwinG, beneath that is
"6.0" and below that is "IndeX"

another thing that makes this one looks awkward is that the leather grip only says "Wilson"(with a little registerred trademark symbol). The grip also looks a little orange-y in color.

If it is possibly can any ps 6.0 85 new CHINA owners post some pictures of their staves. Thank You

Never seen a fake 6.0 85 before. I thought they only make fakes of racquets that are in great demand like the ncode 95 or PD, who cares about the 85 except eccentrics like us? It would help if you post pictures of your racquet. The 85 swings lighter than the 90 but is certainly heavier in terms of static weight.

Actually not true. The PS 6.0 85 is spec'd at 12.6 oz. strung while the PS Tour 90 is spec'd at 12.7 oz. strung. Thus, the PS Tour 90 is heavier in both static and swingweight (335 for Tour 90 vs. 329 for PS 85) than the PS 6.0 85. Don't forget that the PS Tour 90 was originally designed for Pete Sampras.

FWIW, your PS 6.0 85 sounds pretty REAL to me.

Seems like there's an epidemic of people thinking the racquets they bought off of e-Bay are fake. Buy from authorized dealers like TW and you would never have to worry nor wonder if it's a fake.

Sounds and look genuine. I have two of that older China version (that you got - bought like 5-6 years ago) and two of the newer version (bought from TW this spring). They play exactly the same.

(The new version has a slight more "matte" finish in the color and the area that states the specifications is printed in a silvery/grey square).

That is a real racquet...the paint job is slightly different as is the lettering...I also have a chinese model PS 6.0 85...along with 3 PS 6.0 85 from Taiwan...i prefer the lettering and paint job of the racquets from Taiwan but those that you have are real and genuine...so don't panic

mines is the older ps 85 china?
so the buttcap should be while right? but mines black, with white wilson logo surrounded by red square.
and also the lettering of the Wilson midsize 85 looks very poorly made.
ill try to get it weighed at my school's post office since i dont got a scale.

and in addition is the bumper guard suppose to have wilso logos on it?
and also it feels very hollow

OK, then take a picture and post it here. Maybe someone decided to give the old frame a "makeover" :)

The old China version had a very smooth finish.
No Wilson logo on the bumper guard (old or new).

i think you are just out of control. your racquet looks fine. i haven't heard of any fake 6.0 85's.

i only wanted to know if its real or not
so nobody has ever heard of a fake ps 6.0 85?

maybe this should have been researched before you bought?

fake pure drives, controls, wilson ncodes are a dime a dozen. i've never heard of fake 6.0

i have the more recent nCodes but i just wanted a taste of wat all the hype over the PS 6.0 was.
and the camera really couldnt capture the fake looking paint on the stick.

haha, is that a lacross ball in your picture?

What looks suspect to me is that string. Looks...cheap.

have you played with it? does it feel good? do you like it? if you do, then that's all that matters. i've never had the PS 6.0 85 but i had a "made in china" PS 6.1 95. i loved it until one day i saw someone else's PS 6.1 had "ProStaff" written in Times new romans (like yours) unlike italic Arial on mine. (if you read this thread http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=22094, the racquet has a different font too). it was only then that i doubted the genuinity of my racquet but i got over it since the racquet was playing well and it was from a reputable shop. i also had a pair of wilson DST tennis shoes that didn't have the see through window under the sole (one of those with dynaspheres) and they played fine. both were from reputable pro shops so that helped. i guess wilson isn't too concerned with the consistency of the designs of its products around the world, though obviously that got some customers worried.

perhaps you are trying to verify the authenticity of your racquet so you can give the racquet a fair evaluation. if so, good luck with your research.

i can also tell you your racquet looks absolutely fake, if that makes you feel better ;)

It's a fake for sure! If you try playing with that monstrosity it'll completely ruin your game. So, in order to save you from such a fate, I'll take it off your hands! Just send it to me, and buy yourself a genuine one from TW. LOL!
Seriously, it looks absolutely genuine to me. If it is a fake, it's a very well done one! Enjoy!
