Relax, fellars. Just a role reversal of last year. I believe Thiemerer broke to start the match then as well, before humbalito took over.

Break points for Thiem now. He'll be in a lot of Nadal's service games I feel but holding serve will be a mission every time I expect.

Jesus, Nadal's already dripping like a bad leaky faucet.

I like what I'm seeing from Thiem - INTENSITY - if he can keep it up he's going make this a very interesting match.

Well, Thiem does break. Good work from him.

It looks VERY heavy out there, doesn't feel like either player has fully got a handle on the conditions yet.

Thiem can really find Nadal's BH with his heavy CC forehand, Rafa doesn't seem to handle these high bouncing balls well. If Timothy can maintain the same intensity and heaviness with that shot, he could trouble Nadal.

There will be more breaks of serve in this match than the average number of BPs Karlovic offers in BO5 match.

Not a break if you don’t hold serve as Greg Rusedski the tennis guru once said.
