Polls(pl.) are just one example of many, you keep mentioning one. And then you are continuing with stabbing and Seles-Graf story which is not the topic here at all. It seems like you have some problem with Monica Seles...

When it comes to ****************.com, that website is even worse than this one when i comes to overrating Federer. It's funny how much people like to identify with the winners to feel better about their own lives, they manage to overrate a player as amazing as Roger.
As for 2005, it's a typical example of another phenomenon - short memory of tennis forum posters and fascination with the current events, it happens here also, all the time. Khachanov wins a master against the world number one and everyone predicts he will win a slam the next year; Zverev wins the atp finals against Djokovic everyone see him as the next year's number one; Djokovic saves match points at Wimbledon and everyone thinks he is 10X mentally tougher than Laver, Sampras, Borg, Nadal...

I dont have a problem with Seles. I do have a problem with her crazy large fan base who act like she is the god and start fights and trolling anywhere they go. Tennis forums have numerous threads just down by her trolling fans, as well as many youtube videos have comments disabled, even videos of Chris Evert playing Navratilova by some divine twist of fate attracted the crazies who get them shut down. They are like mosquitos everywhere except bug reppelant does not work. They are so bitter over the stabbing and their delusion of what Monica was destined to accomplish, they have let it ruin their own pathetic lives for almost 30 years now, and obsess over it day and night, and flame the internet day and night over it. I only mentioned the stabbing since I knew you or someone else would try and use that as an excuse to validate the 40% plus votes she got on a poll versus Graf as the "greater" player, no other reason. I am just pointing out that is not a valid excuse for her getting that many votes. She simply is overrated, even if for some bizarre reason (I am guessing you being a fan of hers, as well as Safin) you refuse to acknowledge it.

Federer is the GOAT. It isnt surprising he has a fanatical fan base. It is still not as possible to overrate the current GOAT as much as it is to overrate someone so far from being the female GOAT as Seles yet still have a large percentage of people insist she is or in consideration for it. If Djokovic and Nadal both clearly surpass Federer and you still have a large group of people insisting he is the GOAT (although he would still rank much higher all time than Seles amongst women at that point) then we can talk.

You are focusing on some people that make you feel uncomfortable, but there are also Graf's fans who state that the stabbing changed nothing, and that Steffi would win as many slams as she did, or even more(!). So, as I said, every player has crazed fans, you just notice those because you don't like Seles.

It is possible to overrate the GOAT more than non-GOAT, this website is an example of it. You are again confusing the goat discussion with the overrated discussion. A person can be the goat and not overrated while the non-goat is overrated and the other way around. It depends on many factors which of the two will happen.

Now granted, that's probably because some posters rate him as the greatest sportsman of all time and some kind of demi-god, whereas others rate him below Nadal and Djokovic. Both groups are however trolls. Most rate him as the GOAT, or at least a GOAT contender, but not miles ahead of the other greats - which is correct.

Seles OTOH isn't underrated by anyone. Normal posters place her in her deserved position (lower half of all-time top 10), but her more crazed fans claim she is a GOAT contender and that the stabbing prevented her from being GOAT. I have read one poster here (can't recall who) state that, because Seles was only 19 when she was stabbed, that she would have become better and better, to the point where she would begin to dominate Wimbledon as well as all the other slams, and stop Graf from winning anything. Obviously this is fanboyism in the extreme - and leads to Seles overall being highly overrated.

A total non GOAT being lauded and insisted upon as the GOAT by many people, is automatically more overrated than any actual GOAT (Federer, Graf) player can be. Federer with his "best ever athlete" fans might come close, but I think those TMF style nutters are a much bigger minority than the crazy "Seles is GOAT" brigade or "Safin is god and more talented than Federer" brigade.

Exactly, especialy the Seles part. And no I dont hate Seles, even though I am not a fan, but she has a large and insanely deluded fan base to put it mildly, and even some of her non fans vastly overrate her. Your assessment sums EXACTLY how many insist on talking about Seles, and why she indeed belongs on a most overrated list.
