Sweet, thanks. The Extreme has been my weapon of choice so far. Need to get another quick. We have two stowed away at the shop I string at on weekends. Damn engagement ring.... ;(

It has the sickest feel I've ever encountered. Tiny sweetspot... indeed. But oh so much control. Insane.

I played with all of the too, and I like the Extreme. The only con for me was the weight "too light"

OK, I might get a chance to play with the MPro 1 98 on this weekend. This will be the first time I will be hitting with a Fischer :) Will post my views :) Thanks for the replies :)

Add me to this faction man, Fischer M Comp 95 is my choice now. Plan on getting as many as possible. Such a great racket.

I've just tested the MPro1 98 last night. Wow, what a stick!
Except from the rather dubious graphics, it's one of the best I've played with lately.
I'm in the market for a new stick, currently playing with some Volkls, that of course I like a lot. And I'm a 3.5-4, all around, mostly doubles player with rather flat strokes.
Good depth on forehands, solid on serves with really good control on placement. Solid and crisp on net volleys.
And at $80... real bargain!

the only thing that I don't like from the M-speeds as you mentioned are the graphics, horrible. The yellow text and fonts seemed to the picked and designed by ......?????

Anybody stringing the M Comp 95 at a low tension? I am loving the racquet at 48 lbs with SPPP 17L string. I am going to try a hybrid set-up next, 18 gauge Unique mains with 17 or 18 synthetic gut crosses.

I used to use natural gut at low tension, and it felt unfair. The spin, feel, and power, esp. on serves should have been illegal.

haha. Now I am using pro no 1s, which are more forgiving, but don't have the same "it" factor.

Where can I get the old Kafelnikov RED/SILVER pro No 1s from 2001/2 .... any ideas or does anybody have any for sale?

I just hit with my new Fischer 95 M Comp for the first time. It hits like a dream! Great control and feel. It felt very solid and precise on volleys and felt very solid on my groundstrokes.

Leather and lead then, amigo ;)...you'll also get added benefits with that, like more stability and feel. But if you're into that kind of stuff, I guess your best bet is the auction. I saw one red/silver go for 30 bucks just this week.

Yeah thanks, that was me who paid the 30... Keep it on the hush- hush. You'll drive the prices up in the future! Jiminy crickets...

Baaaaaastard! :-o
I thought about bidding on it, but I was sure the price was gonna go up.
Also I just got a pair of Pro No.1 red-blacks (UL) from ze Germans, so I figured it's time to just stick with those. I'm gonna lead them up real nice.

m comp 95 versus black granite comp 95

As I 'm interested in the Fischer mcomp 95 I would to know what are the differences with its succeedor black granite comp 95 concerning:
  • grip shape
  • swingweight
  • power potential
  • stiffness
  • stability
  • feel
Did anyone play with both versions? I would like to hear your experiences.

Can anyone tell me what the grip shape is like on the Magnetic-era racquets?
What brand is the grip shape similar to (Dunlop, Head, Babolat etc..)
Is it much different from the pre-Magnetic era? I really like the red/black Pro No.1s but I feel like the grip is very small and square, even with an L4 size.
And when you add an overgrip it just becomes round. It's especially annoying on serve, I can't seem to get a good grip on it.

The newer Magnetic frames have a grip shape like a Head racquet. It's more rectangular.

Hey Fischer folk.

Question for you. I was looking at demoing some Fischer sticks and a question popped into my mind.

Is it only the tour and comp racquets that have the "no tollerance" garontee? If so, what the variation on non-tour racquest (specifically the rally series)?

Some manufacturers quote a +/- 7 grams variation.

It is indicated in the Fischer brocure which are the models with the "no tolerance" feature - it seems the rally series doesnt come with it.

I have a $45 m speed pro no 1 in the classifieds, if anyone is interested.

For the record, the M comp 95 is the best racquet I have ever hit with,

More power please...

I am currently using the Fischer M Pro Number One 98 racquet. Picked this one up because I liked the control and it had good parameters for someone who has had tennis elbow problems. I love the control but would like a little more pop. Could anyone recommend some slight weight adjustments (or another racquet) that would not likely bring on the elbow issues again?

By the way, I tried two more powerful raquets recently, the Prince O3 Black and the Dunlop Aerogel 500 tour. Like the pace.. considering adopting one to see whether or not I can get a decent level of control from them.

Thanks!!

If you like the balance you could add about 4g inside the handle and the same amount around the head. Using a full gut string or full multifilament will add alot of pop too. You may also be stringing too tight. Stringing high still feels very playable in this frame, but if shot depth starts to drop off then it's too tight.

My current racquet is the Fischer M Pro Number One Light. Cheers!

I play UL's set up with leather + tourna grip and 4g lead at 2 & 10. Now experimenting with syn gut or multi/ poly hybrid at low tension, 51/ 47lb or so, and getting extra pop that I was looking for. I'm almost there to freeze my setup for good.

Try some lead in the hoop to increase swing weight, mine should be around 325 per TW calculator, giving added plow-through, power and stability. Also do not afraid to try lower tension, it will not sail that much and still great control, and you will definitely get more pop. I use Prince original syn gut 16, Klip Excelerator multi 16 and Cyberflash poly 17 for my hybrid. What's your string setup?

I found a Gamma Air Carbon Tournament 9.0 for a good price in a 2nd-hand shop, and a little searching suggests that the "Air Carbon" tech comes from Fischer and may even have been made by Fischer. My question for the Fischerphiles familiar with both: does the famous "Fischer feel" extend to the Gamma Air Carbon frames, or does it come from other qualities a Fischer frame brings to the table?

M pro 98 UL red/black to M comp 95

I've played with the M pro one 98 UL red/black version for a cpl years and love the feel, control and balance, but am interested in other models.

Only problems with it are the vibration you sometimes get if you hit the ball toward the top part of the strings and it could use a little more pop (and the grommets tear easily). From reading these posts I'll bring the tension down a bit (currently at 55 -- and I use cheap prince synthetics for $18-20 since I bust whatever I use pretty quickly) -- does M comp 95 solve the vibration and power issues without loosing the feel and control of the racquet?

What I esp like about the red/black is the width and balance which for me allows me to have a very smooth and controlled stroke and I feel I can always roll my wrists over the ball in a very controlled manner -- skinnier rackets for me make my wrist motion skittish and jagged (as with Vokls which I thought were too long and skinny).

So the 95 being a smaller head size, how does it affect the 'rotation' of the racket if that makes any sense?

Also, how does the M pro one 98 UL yellow/black (later model I believe) compare to the black/red...it seems these are easier and cheaper to get.

Great group...really like the fischer I have....I hope Pacific makes good and doesn't mess up the template.

If you have issues with vibration and you could use more power just get the SL version of your stick. That one will absorb more shock with its mass and still be easy to swing. The MComp will be a pretty big jump, it is and it swings heavier than the SL version of the MPro 1. When compared with your UL's ...the difference would be even bigger.
Suggest getting some SL's and go from there. Either that or experiment with some lead tape on your UL version

I used to use Gamma (the T-7) and I still think it's a great racquet, but I discovered the M Pro One 98 and haven't looked back. Sold my Gammas and now have 4 Fischers. Love them. Slightly smaller head size than the T-7, but still nice and flexy and soft on my arm. Ideal weight for me too.

I actually picked mine up off the TW forums. This was back when TW still had some, but I was able to find several that were in practically new condition on the forums for less.

I have stopped looking now that I have 4, but I bet you'll find a few if you keep checking. There appears to be a couple on the bay as wel.

I think they call it a 12-pack bag actually, which I think is absurd, personally. I put two racquets in each side and all my closes, shoes and junk in the middle, and that stuffs it pretty full.

I could probably get 3 racquets comfortably on each side, and MAYBE even 4, but I really think that would be pushing it.

I suppose if you wanted to use the middle section for racquets, then you could easily fit 12.

If you like the bag, check out Pacific's bag. They basically exactly the same, just rebranded.

Hi to everyone at the Fischer Faction,

Never posted here but read almost all your posts and am happy to find crazy people about Fischer. Too bad the Fischer brand has disappeared, but what I've seen from the forthcoming Pacific racquets collection is that they're very close to the most recent Fischer frames, so far... I'd like they could bring back my beloved Fischer Pro Classic 98... I've been using them for more than ten years now. Tried different frames from time to time (Volkl, Wilson...) but I always came back to those frames. I really love their unique feeling. 3 of my Pro Classic are still new and two of them (the black ones) have been customized some years ago... I also have two Fischer Ti Pro Tour but they play different IMO... and stored in a cupboard so far.

I've always used soft strings (mainly 1st gen of Head Fibergel) with rather low tensions (23/22 kilos, rarely above), put Volkl or Babolat leather grips (both great) on them. I plan to play at least ten more years with that frame... At least until my arm finds them too heavy for the job (335 gr unstrung, with a balance of 30,5 mm unstrung).

Cheers all, until next time !

Nico
