Thoughts on Halep and Moving on to the Men's Final

First off, I want to congratulate Maria. I really dislike her, but you cannot discount the heart and soul she brings to the sport. Kudos to her. I do, however, want to congratulate Simona as well. For her first major final, she seemed pretty damn calm. She broke in the first game of the match, and even when she was down a set and a break she kept fighting. When the draw loosened up for her (when Li went out), she didn't cower away like Aga:sad:, She has easy power, great movement, and an impeccable desire to win. Dropping only two sets in a major championship is pretty impressive. If Serena gets out at the USO, I think Simona should certainly be the new favorite there. She is ready to make it big.

Looking forward to the final tomorrow, as much as I want Djokovic to win, I am afraid he has peaked too early in this tournament. He played a spectacular match against Tsonga, but has seemed to have mental lapses (or physical lapses) in other matches that are just very uncharacteristic of him. Rafa, on the other hand, has caught fire. Watching his match against Murray, he played better in that match than he did in the semi against Djoker last year, and I think he played on the level that won him the USO, in a four-setter over Djokovic. The thing that has stood out to me most is that in Rome, where Djoker won a fairly tight three-setter in the Finals, Rafa lost six games to Murray in ONE SET. In the semifinal match, he lost six games in the ENTIRE MATCH. That's just crazy.

I KNOW both of the players are going to give it all, but I am starting to see nerves from Djokovic, as he knows he is getting close to the career grandslam. 2011 Djoker would have never been broken in the third set against Gulbis. He CANNOT do that against an in-form Rafa. The only thing giving me hope for Djoker is that he has won four matches against Rafa in a row.

I'll say Rafa 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4

Halep played very well, seems to be a really nice young lady. Best of luck to her.

Though I'd like to see Djokovic win, Nadal is playing "paint the lines" tennis. He's well rested, from an easy draw, and will probably win in 4. That said, he really hasn't been tested. SO it will come down on who imposes his will over the other.

I think Rafa is actually going to take this in straight sets (two of which will be very close)...MAYBE in four. Really doubt it's going five.
