Wilson RF97 Questions

1. Is Wilson the only brand using Kevlar materials in their racquet?

2. My old Pro Staff 6.1 indicates "80/20 Graphite Kevlar composite".
Is that the same ratio used in the RF 97? (The RF97 Specs only say "Braided Kevlar..." without mentioning ratio specifics.)

3. In the TW video review, some of the RF97 playtesters say they may wait "for the next RF97 iteration." Is Wilson expected to release something soon?

4. Wilson plans to make the RF97 available just in that single red color?

I can answer a couple of these for you:

3. In the TW video review, some of the RF97 playtesters say they may wait "for the next RF97 iteration." Is Wilson expected to release something soon?
No, this version just came out so nothing new is coming out to replace it in the near future.

4. Wilson plans to make the RF97 available just in that single red color?
There are no plans for that.

I'll chime in as well:

1) Currently, probably? However, in the olden days, many other companies have used Kevlar in one form or another. Dunlop used it with their Muscle Weave and Hot Melt phase. Head used Twaron in their PC600.

2) We can probably assume the familiar 80/20 graphite/kevlar composition, just like the olden days. When k-Factor came out, it was 80% graphite, 20% "karophite". Coincidence?

4) Still waiting on a matte black Pro Staff to return...

That would be sweet. If the RF97 was an RF95, it would be Nirvana.

RF95 would of worked better for me, the head on the 97 seemed too hefty and not very manouverable.

After hitting twice with the RF-97, two sets of doubles and an hour of hitting, I'd like that racket to have a shorter overal length and wider top of the head, like a DunlopF-3 Tour.

That's interesting taste. The RF along with the 6.1 95s seem like have a pretty round head at the end of the racquet. I would actually prefer to have it more elongated like the Prestiges or Blades.

I was a long time PS6.1 classic player and when I hit the PS97 I did not like it at all. After a few sets/hours I totally wrote it off it felt nothing like the old PS6.1 classics. A few I play with agreed as well who are PS players.

Yep the RF is different for any racquet before it, and imo shares basically nothing but Kevlar with any Pro Staff line.

The RF 97 is amazing. Has improved my one handed backhand a lot. I am a huge fan of this new line of rackets. Prior to this I played with a 6.1 95.

You mean your previous racquet was this Wilson PS 95?:

Did you also try the new PS 97? That seems closer to your previous PS 95 than the RF97...

I'll also have to try the PS 95 as it's priced at $119. The newer RF97 is priced at $219. Ouch.
