I thought the seedings were based on the computer rankings.
Congrats to duke women on clobbering host UGA (4-2 and going on 5-2 as clayton had her opponent running on empty up 3-1 in 3rd) despite getting down early with dubs and a rare Capra loss
fun seeing Duke show way more fight / toughness in UGAs own arena
Too bad Duke men didn't get a chance to repeat the feat today
Oh Mikey, your bias is showing. It was a great, very close match. The dubs was exciting. 1 and 2 singles were blowouts, but competitive. 3 and 6 were some great comebacks by both teams. UGA really had there chances at 4. Up 5-3 in the final set. Losing that was a heart breaker. And don't be so sure 5 was going Dukes way. Neither could hold serve, and several games including the last game of the second set went to nearly 10 deuces.
Not a clobbering. But a close, great, exciting match by both teams.
Dream on- Florida will win again this year!
I think all the final 4 matches will be 4-2 or 4-3. I just have no idea who is going to be on the winning end of any of them. I like the Gators over Duke 4-2, but I can't call the rest of the matches.
As a Virginia fan, Go Gators! I'd like to take all 7 of 'em out to dinner.
I am at work and only have explorer and really cannot follow these, if anyone could give score updates Id be very grateful
SHHHH!!! Do not insert facts into the equation.
UCLA up 3 - 0 in doubles on court #1 and #2
UCLA up 4 - 0 on court #3
Duke and FLA seems to be on serve 2 -3, 3 - 3, and 2 - 2 respectively
Florida up 6-2 at 1 and 5-3 at 2. Duke up 4-2 at 3.
UCLA up 6 - 2 on all 3 courts
UCLA now up 7 - 3 on all courts
Ok I knew it was weird that they were all the same score...seems like the scoreboard is all out of whack...UCLA has definitely won court 1.
Florida won #1 8-3. #2 tied at 6. #3 Duke up 6-2
bigtime finish on ct 2
i say duke's chances are about 35% with dubs pt in hand - 3% without it
UCLA just finished off court 2 of doubles to take the doubles point
solid job breaking embree
8-7 serving - close it out capra-kahan!
Duke up 7-3 on 3 and serving for it on 2 up 7-6
I tend to agree with this. I think you are more than 50/50 at #1. If a couple other Dukies play unconscious, this could be bad for us. I'm still sticking to my 4-2 prediction.
and Florida breaks back on a double fault. Into a tie break we go with FLA taking the first point.
poor service game ending in a df for capra - tb time!
capra and kahan will have good chances (if they can still believe in the team after dubs, much easier if they take this pt)
mar and clayton will have fair chances
2,6 likely very comfortable for UF
really a tremendously terrible tiebreak for duke, even for womens dubs standards
try to keep an occasional xc rally in the court or not get passed down the line while pseudo-poaching with no real gusto
congrats UF - good luck in the finals
actually after looking over a few results i'll withdraw my statement that mar has a fair chance
so 2,3,6 should make this 4-0 for UF in 80 minutes time
I'm pretty interested to see how Goldfield matches up with Embree. I know Mather smoked her at UF earlier, but I think that she matches up better against Embree. I don't think she'll win, but should be tighter and competitive.
wow, some great starts for duke
i'll be glad to have my pessimistic foot shoved in my mouth if they keep this up
mike, scoreboard isn't working again. did duke win the doubles point ? I am cheering for Florida. they have an awsome coaching staff and great players with class. Hope they win the NCAA again this year.
nope, if you read any of the above posts you'd be aware UF won the dubs pt
but Duke up a break in 5 of 6 singles spots in the early singles action
thank you, just wondering. UF is my team. Go Gators.
i think you mean UF is your team once burdette's lack of fitness sinks stanford out of the tournament for a second straight year
that seem more accurate?
or i guess we could blame the loss on ellen tsay
i mean you assured me last year that she was a better recruit than capra
and now she's not even a dependable #5? did stanford ruin her?
always nice talking to you feddie
Duke up on 5 courts - pretty big crowd watching
really confused about what you are referring to there. but reason burdette lost was not the fitness issue. Danielle Lao employed a great stretegy against burdette. Hit short in the middle and hit as low as possible. and keep 99 % of the ball out of burdette's power zone. Her knee up to her belly area. and Lao was able to do this for the entire match. It isn't easy but if can execute this for the match, you can beat a better power player.
I play power tennis myself and i had this done to me by another very good, very fast player. so i know why this can give problems to a power hitter.
don't need to be so defensive buddy - we all understand it can be hard to move up a few steps into the center of the court and bend your knees when you're out of shape
nice job by cercone fighting back to even it at 5-5 with clayton and stall a bit of duke's momentum
that match could be a big one
scoreboard getting a little wonky - but looks like clayton took the first 7-5
4 first sets to duke
embree takes the first for UF
capra still trying to close out her first set
UF not surprisingly fighting back quite well in a few of these second sets
What chance could an SEC team possibly have against an ACC team?
I am baffled as to why we have Janowicz playing at 6. Hitimana beat The snot out of Turewicz a couple months ago...now she is riding pine. Did Andy give Roland today's lineup?
haha, not much if this tournament so far is any indication
but this match is still giving me the uneasy feeling that capra's chance to hold at 8-7 to win the doubles point is going to loom quite large in the end
either way, i'll be proud the ladies came out fighting despite a rough go of it against UF earlier this season and a disappointing dubs pt finish
a long-awaited set pt at 5-4 40-30 for capra
first one fought off but now another coming - ad-in
capra has her running off the court but flubs an attempted drop volley
back to deuce
and i have to hit the road...grrr...someone keep some updates coming on this thread please!
USC blew a 3-0 2nd set lead at both 1 & 6 and now there are 5 3rd sets and #4 may go 3 too. This one could go on for another hour plus
Side note...what a battle with USC and UCLA. Split sets on 5 out of 6 courts.
UCLA up 2-0
All 5 remaining matches in third set. Very close one, but seems UCLA is going to grab the victory.
Florida up 3-0. Duke can win the 4 matches remaining (as they are up) but very difficult task to happen.
SC has all the momentum right now
SC just took #3 to tie it up. SC up 4-1 in the 3rd at 6. UCLA up 4-0 in the 3rd at 1. #2 is 2 all in the 3rd
is there sound on the live streaming? I dont hear anything.
Nope, SC serving to stay in it down 2-5
the curse of 'fedace' strikes again .. this time ,to DLoa.. just lost the deciding point against UCLA.. congrats to women Bruins ..
