Congrats to duke women on clobbering host UGA (4-2 and going on 5-2 as clayton had her opponent running on empty up 3-1 in 3rd) despite getting down early with dubs and a rare Capra loss
fun seeing Duke show way more fight / toughness in UGAs own arena
Too bad Duke men didn't get a chance to repeat the feat today

Oh Mikey, your bias is showing. It was a great, very close match. The dubs was exciting. 1 and 2 singles were blowouts, but competitive. 3 and 6 were some great comebacks by both teams. UGA really had there chances at 4. Up 5-3 in the final set. Losing that was a heart breaker. And don't be so sure 5 was going Dukes way. Neither could hold serve, and several games including the last game of the second set went to nearly 10 deuces.
Not a clobbering. But a close, great, exciting match by both teams.

I think all the final 4 matches will be 4-2 or 4-3. I just have no idea who is going to be on the winning end of any of them. I like the Gators over Duke 4-2, but I can't call the rest of the matches.

I tend to agree with this. I think you are more than 50/50 at #1. If a couple other Dukies play unconscious, this could be bad for us. I'm still sticking to my 4-2 prediction.

and Florida breaks back on a double fault. Into a tie break we go with FLA taking the first point.
capra and kahan will have good chances (if they can still believe in the team after dubs, much easier if they take this pt)
mar and clayton will have fair chances
2,6 likely very comfortable for UF
actually after looking over a few results i'll withdraw my statement that mar has a fair chance
so 2,3,6 should make this 4-0 for UF in 80 minutes time

I'm pretty interested to see how Goldfield matches up with Embree. I know Mather smoked her at UF earlier, but I think that she matches up better against Embree. I don't think she'll win, but should be tighter and competitive.

mike, scoreboard isn't working again. did duke win the doubles point ? I am cheering for Florida. they have an awsome coaching staff and great players with class. Hope they win the NCAA again this year.

but Duke up a break in 5 of 6 singles spots in the early singles action

really confused about what you are referring to there. but reason burdette lost was not the fitness issue. Danielle Lao employed a great stretegy against burdette. Hit short in the middle and hit as low as possible. and keep 99 % of the ball out of burdette's power zone. Her knee up to her belly area. and Lao was able to do this for the entire match. It isn't easy but if can execute this for the match, you can beat a better power player.
I play power tennis myself and i had this done to me by another very good, very fast player. so i know why this can give problems to a power hitter.
don't need to be so defensive buddy - we all understand it can be hard to move up a few steps into the center of the court and bend your knees when you're out of shape

I am baffled as to why we have Janowicz playing at 6. Hitimana beat The snot out of Turewicz a couple months ago...now she is riding pine. Did Andy give Roland today's lineup?

haha, not much if this tournament so far is any indication
but this match is still giving me the uneasy feeling that capra's chance to hold at 8-7 to win the doubles point is going to loom quite large in the end
either way, i'll be proud the ladies came out fighting despite a rough go of it against UF earlier this season and a disappointing dubs pt finish

Side note...what a battle with USC and UCLA. Split sets on 5 out of 6 courts.
