Yes, I know. :) The name Garcia says it all. I am actually referring to the Southern Mediterranean traits that we both share, something which a border cannot really control. ;)

Actually, I knew a girl whose last name was Garcia, but she was Filipino. :)

Although, by and large, a last name like that is going to be Hispanic/Latino in the vast majority of cases.

Her name is probably Garcia because she indeed has Spanish blood. The Philippines has (also) been a Spanish colony. Its many Catholics there too.
Garcia is a Spanish name, not Italian. And Im not sure if the Spanish call themselves latino, Italians dont. My dad is Italian, he actually looks a bit like Stallone... who is Italian by blood.

Oh I know. I worked with many Filipino nurses and a ton of them had very Spanish last names - Cordero, Caysido, Tibia, etc.

I didn't say anything about Italians, did I?

Spanish as in Spaniards would be Hispanic since they are from a Spanish Speaking Country, but one not located in Latin America. Those that live in Central/South America with the exception of a few countries (most notably Brazil) could be referred to as both Latino and Hispanic. However, Brazil and a few other countries like French Guiana, Guyana, and Suriname could only be referred to as Latino, since their official languages are Portuguese, (Brazil) French, (French Guiana) English (Guyana) and Dutch, (Suriname) respectively.
