As title says, we can begin with horror show :)

In my opinion, Djokovic can lose his appetite if he gets something like this:

Karlovic
Sousa
Schwartzman
Medvedev
Delpo
Thiem
Nadal

Wawrinka in the third round on a hot day tougher than Schwartzman for Djokovic

Edit: Plus he can’t even play Schwartzman in the 3R, he’s seeded 18, so earliest would be 4R

Wawrinka is 34, he isn't the same giant killer he was 4-5 years back.

I don’t really see him as a tournament favourite like I’m seeing some people say, but still, Djokovic never plays 100% until the QFs, so imagine it’s a baking day and you’re playing Stan on a clay court in an early round, it still won’t be as easy

Why are we dealing with Djokovic draw only ?
Mine for Rafa:
R1: Qualifier with big forehand, like Bolleli last year
R2: Jarry
R3: Klizan
R4: Diego
QF: Del Potro
SF: Thiem
F: Djokovic

Can’t imagine it being worse. Maybe Del Potro looks like he shouldn’t be on the list, but he has the weapons to trouble Rafa and he was playing amazing in Rome. This match can turn ugly if Nadal will waste break points here and there.

Del Potro is the guy to avoid. His BH is now a weapon and he wont miss FHs at big moments once more match fit.

He will be first guy I look for in Nadals section. If he is there I will panic as he can beat anyone on any surface if it all clicks.

Thiem I think flattered to deceive. Won a 500 event but did not convince at the bigger events. Del Potro would be a nightmare.

IMO the worst case scenario for Rafa is getting burnt out by grinders before the final. I think Rafa should be generally fine, but it would be bad to play consecutive 4 plus hour matches vs. Diego and Dominic for example before the final.

I would add Fognini too but depends which Fognini shows up. He likes that Italian vs Spanish battle.

Fognini, Thiem, Diego, would be problems for Nadal before Djokovic. Thiem would be a problem for both of them. Thiem's placement will be important.

Also I agree, if Nadal has a USO 2018 like battles then it's gonna be super super tough.

USO 2018 battles were consequences of Rafa’s form jumping from poor to average through all the tournament. Hopefully it won’t be the same at RG and recent performance in Rome says that it won’t.

I hope so but I'm just saying if it happens then it will be a problem especially if Djokovic is waiting in the final. But RG clay will of course give him more easier matches vs the field than USO.

Stat has lost his movement and would be badly beaten by Nole I think. Watching him against Nadal was like watching Raonic, he was soooo slow.

What about Gulbis for a 1st round? He is always a dangerous player even when out of form.

And whatever happened to the "how many times" guy (I don't remember his name)?

The "How many times" guy is Jerzy, but I don't think that currently he or Gulbis represent bigger threat than a number of up and coming young players or some old in form veterans like Verdasco and Kohli.

Avoiding Diego would be good for him. That little 619 guy likes to drag top players in long rally exhanges.

I disagree. I don't think he gets "outlasted". I think he can only be beaten if he is just hit off the court. The only way to beat him is to go for it and force the issue. If you miss you lose but you are gonna lose anyway so be the master of your destiny and go for the winners and forcing groundstrokes.

Not my fav Nadal but he can't survive any two combinations of Novak,Del Potro and Thiem consecutively..

I don't even know what that is. My Indian/Pakistani culinary knowledge is lacking.

It's an Indian cold drink to help fight against high temperatures and relax a bit (temp. In India can go upto 50 degrees Celsius, especially where I live, Amdavad)
And about gulab falooda, It's a mixture of rose flavour, sugar, soaked basil seeds, soaked bits of cashews+raisins in chilled milk...

Btw, pakistan sux badly... #Pkmkb

I love these threads, but not as motivated to create with Thiem being fat and happy at 4 seed.:giggle:

Frankly Federe (moral victor on clay) in the latter stages no picnic for Djoko. Tsits or Zedrot a worthy substitute for Delpo and ultimately more dangerous as Delpo pretty much threw everything including kitchen sink into their Rome encounter. Coric could do nicely for Medvedev. Your Diegobot (20th seed at least) call for R32 is not possible; hands down Wawrinka for the Nole doomsday scenario.:-D Your first two rounds are an utter Djoko.:sneaky: The monstar threats outside of the seeds are Garin and Fokina (the power dropper and lob machine:whistle:) who I'd rate top 16 on clay.

You've got to be quality to knock Nadal out earlierer. I vote for Fokina and Garin first rounds for Rafa. Pouille for R32, but only if no one drops from event before him....nope Isner out....given Rome, Verdasco R32 for Nadal.:D Coric R16 1000%. Tsitsipas QF, then Thiemere, and Nole in final or Federe just for fun.;)

Verdasco is the 24th seed now.
He cant face top 8 seeds until the fourth round.
