@Ann @Otacon

Tell me how great today will be. Let me feel the energy flow through me.:p
It will be FABULOUS (and when reading it you must hear the proper over the top inflection of that word).

But just to make certain things go well I'm about to send Roger another letter here. I did it right before the semi-final and told him to kick Mallorcan azz - and look what happened! Let's not mess with fate.

Dear Roger;

It's me again! Just wanted to say good morning to the Goatiest GOAT of Goatness.

Once again you've made it to the finals of Wimbledon and it's been one hell of a year. A Masters, Halle, SF at FO and now the finals at Wimbledon - as Mirka said you are a Superman. Win or not win this year has already been a tremendous success and you have nothing left to prove.

Having said all that -- NOW PLEASE GO KICK SOME SERBIAN AZZ!

and save us all from boob throwing and shirt ripping from Skeletor.

Your Faithful Fan;

Ann

Sorry guys I had to send another - not that I'm at all superstitious. Nope not me.

BTW I live in the U.S. on the East Coast and woke up with a start at 4:30 this morning thinking OMG today's Wimbledon. I've been awake since then.

I love Wimbledon and win or not win, he's had an amazing year so let's just have a great day, y'all.

ROFL, Kyrgios is truly one of a kind.

What is it with him and his obssession with Novak?

not sure but i swear if this man ends up jinxing fed, lmao i mean i do know he is a fed fan and grew up liking fed. i dont think he hates novak persay though but yeah he probably feels even more strongly about this match. not sure where that tension came from though because with nadal i get it, after Acapulco, but with novak not sure. novak said he tried to give advice and maybe nick didn't take too kindly to it.

Also in this case I know you like nole but I'm on Nick's side here Federer please win

Sometimes colleagues don't get along and Kyrgios being Kyrgios he has to let the whole world know, repeteadly. It might not be any more complex than that.

Rooting for Fed is fine obviously, I certainly don't have an issue with that.

Yeah I'm going to be blunt I can see why Novak might rub ppl the wrong way and there are times I'm ehhh about him even taking aside that he is about to give my fav a beating. Heck I'm sure there are ppl in the locker room who don't like any of the big 3 or dont take too kindly to one of them. I'm probably hypocritical because if nick were going on about fed I'd be like okay bud stop it. Nick is just definitely one of those who feels to let ppl know all the time. In any case see you in the match thread. Hopefully fed doesnt lose like nadal ala A

I'm going to be honest and say I see why Novak might rub ppl the wrong way

Sure, Novak is certainly not without his faults. I don't really mind trash talk in sports, it's fine as long as they follow the rules when on court. It spices things up.

Kyrgios is right about one thing though, people will tune in to watch him. It may be just to root for him to lose but they will watch him. For a guy that hasn't achieved great heights in tennis (relatively speaking of course) he does get a lot of attention.

It all came down to a few crucial points, even in a nearly 5 hour match. Djokovic was the better player mentally during most of those points. Fed accepts tough losses better than anyone, but he's been on the losing end to the two greatest Wimbledon finals ever played. And the quality was much better in this one.
If djokovic had just won 6-4 or 7-5 in the fifth , id accept it easily. But having 2 mps on his own serve and losing , and knowing he may never get this chance again.. it's shattering

Those two MP's in the fifth not converted will indeed hurt. But credit to Djokovic, he's just so strong in pressure situations. This will probably be the most devastating loss of Roger's career when it's all said and done.

Should never be the case at 38 years of age, but will probably wind up to be so. He completed outplayed Djokovic the entire match other than the beginning of the 5th set and didn’t win. I have no idea how he even goes on to play after this. 40-15 on your racket after fighting back AND after going nearly 4 sets without even ALLOWING a break point. 21 to 15 lead in slams over Djokovic, a win over the #1 and #2 at basically 38 years old....there would almost be no way Djokovic could overcome that.

Total points: 218 to 203 for Federer
  • Breaking serve: 7 times for Federer, 3 times for Djokovic
  • Receiving points won: 79 for Federer, 63 for Djokovic
  • Dominance Ratio: 1.16 in favor of Federer
  • Winners: 94 for Federer, 54 for Djokovic
  • FH winners from baseline: 18 for Fed, 14 for Djokovic
  • BH winners from baseline: 7 for Fed, 8 for Djokovc
  • Volley winners: 22 for Federer, 3 for Djokovic

Wow, Roger won significantly more points. But he didn't win most of the points that really mattered.

I'm sorry some of you guys are disengaging from tennis. I'm sure you'll be back once the emotional hangover of this match passes, though that might take awhile. Roger was the heavy underdog in this final and took it to the limit, defeating Nadal in the process.

Yep, any other circumstance i’d just be saying great tournament. But it’s those two match points. They will haunt me for ever.

Really just wish Rog would have gone the T on deuce side at 40-15 match point.

He was bizarrely going wide to forehand so much when the T deuce side is his best serve of any spot on the court.

Also feel that he should have done better from deuce. But no, it was just a full collapse. I think this will break him for at least the rest of the year, can’t see him competing for big titles anytime soon.

Heartbreaking loss. Nothing much to add, I didn't feel very confident he could do it before the match but Nole was quite poor. A missed opportunity, and a match only Roger could lose in such a way. The third time.

What can you do, tennis, ha?

Commiserations to all of the great Federer Fans here, I feel for you guys. Federer is the GOAT, to do what he did these past 48 hours at his age is simply unreal, he was unlucky, but that is sports for you. He is a champion, and as Djokovic said, he himself is inspired by what Federer has done and continues to do. Federer is not done, I feel he will win one more grand slam down the road, his talent and his fitness is still very very good. I understand it is difficult, but remember, he is 38 in a few weeks, and he is still out there giving his fans one wild ride after another. He will be back, I have no doubt. He is simply the greatest.

Fed is not going anywhere. He will create more chances. The problem is when he can’t convert them. It has to take its toll on him at some point. But that’s not tomorrow.

I am down. But can’t feel that sorry for someone who had all the glory and is at the tail end of his career.

This is no coincidence that the site is like this. Wish they'd turn off the static. We're probably good now, right?

You are wrong.

:)
I stuck to my guns on the "silent movie" thing, then flipped the volume on in time for those championship points (it is not easy even to type that).

But anyway, outrageous choke completed, and I flipped off the broadcast.

Watched the runner-up speech, despite intentions. And here is my question to you:

As he seemed nearly completely unperturbed after all of that, do you think "admirable" verges on "sociopathic"?

Hope you understand what I mean. Obviously, all the admiration in the world for what he does... but there has to be an element of something along those lines to tune it out (time and again) to such a degree. And my point, ultimately, is that perhaps these traits should be praised more often rather than vilified.

Thoughts?
