I have been playing with Dr98 a couple of years with RD Lyon and been pleased enough to not feel the need to try something else. I have a pair and ask the stringer to put 22 Kg on one of them and 24 on the other. I find these string playable quite long so at the end I guess the tension has dropped quite a lot.
I have heard some people complaining about these string being low powered but I find them to have a rather perfect combination of power, spin and feel.
Which ver. you used? 17 or 17L? Which racquet you played better ? 22 kg or 24 kg ?

I changed from Kirschbaum Max power 16 to Babolat hurricane 17 at 53 lbs. Very good performancein my DR98 310 g.

17L. After restringing I mostly plays with the lower tension racket but it really comes down to how I feel/play. Gradually I will gravitate more and more towards the the other racket as the tension drops.

Has anyone removed a Dr butt cap and I don’t mean the clip the whole butt cap? Tried everything it won’t bludge. Trying to install xtp butt cap so it’ll match my plus model

Small, thin flat head screwdriver and a lot of patience. Yonex has some long staples so you just have to steadily work your way under them. I’ve swapped butt caps on my 3 of my DRs and gotten faster each time.

The non-destructive approach is as @the_faceless_player says, I couldn't find any other way. If you don't want to keep it then it's much faster to peel it off with pliers. The handle is quite soft - it dents easily if you use too much pressure with the screwdriver.

Hi, I'm trying to make my Yonex Ezone DR 100 more head light. For my previous racket I just put silicone in the handle but I can't to that here because of the gel in it, any of you guys tried to remove it?

Also, it the gel technology actually effective compared to silicone?

I would strongly advice against removing the gel ...

The racket could be made more HL by:
* adding led to the handle below the base grip (best positions are just abov above and/or at the bottom of the handle.
* changing to a heavier (leather) base grip.
* changing to a thinner string.

There are some threads on the topics of how and where to add weight to the handle.

Honestly I have no idea how much job it would be to remove it but it could end with a messed up the racket. Besides that the chance for you making a better "handle filling" (for balance and vibration cancellation) than Yonex seems very slim. Maybe someone with experience of removing factory filling can give you better input.

Additionally to what @Fireball has said, the effort of removing the gel (which effectively does what the silicone will be doing), then adding the silicone, and then putting the cap back on, seems much more complicated than just taking a bit of the grip off and putting some of TWs Tungsten Tape (which is very flat) onto the pallet and then putting the grip back on. Furthermore, it is easier to modify again compared to the permanency of the Silicone.

I can get my hands on a new DR98 285g Lime. Is it worth it? Can i modify it to the specs as the 310g or should i try to get a directly a 310g version?

Any chance it's a 4-5/8? I need to replace one that slipped out of my hand. To answer one of your questions, yes, it's possible to modify it to the heavier specs.

Nope it's 4-3/8 and only 1 left on stock. Not sure if i should get my hands on it or wait for the new Ezone AO which will hopefully be like a updated DR.

What is the most favorite string setup for Ezone DR 98 (310g , Lime) on this forum?

I've just moved to Luxilon ALU Power Rough, the 1.25, on a whim. Strung at 55/53 and I'm really happy with the control and spin I'm getting on it. Serves seem easily accurate as well. Others will of course disagree. I've tried a few strings, but this one's going well for me at the moment.

Have you tried lower tension? For me dr plays well at 48-50

I have played a little lower before, for sure. I keep my strings on longer than some of you serious tennis heads, and have found with the Luxilon it's on the 2nd or 3rd hit after the restring the racquet really starts to open up, then it stays there a while. I'm a fairly tall guy at 6'2 so have fairly "long levers", and find I prefer to have the extra control of the (slightly) higher string tension to begin with. It's mostly mental, in my head it's a check - if I'm using proper technique there is no reason for my strokes to miss.

What do you enjoy at the slightly lower end there? I'm guessing a little more power on serve?

I am enjoying a litlle more power in general and saving my arm especially if i play full poly, for me dr if strung lets say with yptp over 50p is very harsh and looses all the magic..At 48p control is there for me, i am 4.5 all around topspin player mostly but with dr i like to play flat bombs also

If you don't buy it and live in UK let me know where the grip 2 is ;)

Played my first tournament in 6 years this weekend. County level and made the final lost 10-9 in a final set tb (its winner takes all at 9-9 for speed reasons). So the racket did well for me, used tour bite 1.25 string.

At one point I pulled out the ezone 98 but it was just so hard to control in comparison, really a very different racket and definitely has been harsh on my arm, so have since sold it!

Hope the next ezone does move back to the DR in terms of feel and comfort, defo the best singles I have hit with!

In seriousness, I have had a similar issue with having a grip 2.3 and 4 since they are like gold dust to find. Here is how I have dealt with it, if you want a slightly bigger grip get a karakal PU replacement grip (really cheap here) and use wilson comfort over grip. In your grip 3 you could use a babolat skin feel and then a yonex super grap overgrip. There will be a very marginal difference still but not really enough to effect play, of course make sure weight and balance remain where you want them.

Thanks, what mm is the karakal you suggest? I really dont want to go over 332-333 strung with overgrip.

I regret only buying 2 blue DR98s two years back as one of the frames cracked from just hitting.

Just hit with Vcore 98 stringing Technifibre Black Code 16s at 48lbs. It is close enough to make the switch.

Will be selling one 8.5-9/10 blue DR with 4 1/2 grip.

Any DR100 users have used Signum Pro X-Perience??

I have read a lot of positive comments about this string and decided to try in 1.18 and 1.24 gauge.

I have strung only the 1.18 @ 50lbs so far and I feel like it lacks control in this frame.
Has anyone have had this kind of issues to?

Also, what other polys are you familiar with for this frame?
Thanks!

Quick way to make it less head light is to pop off the buttcap trap door - doesn't effect feel at all
I got 2of those I'm selling same grip and weight in great condition anybody interested??? Ezone 98dr black green version. Best rackets on the market weight 310grams.

Can't decide whether to go with the DR 98 or 100. Forehand and serve better with the 98, but backhand and volley better with the 100. Decisions decisions.
I'm selling two Ezone 98dr green black 310gramms if interested very good condition only used indoors so no scratches. Message me if interested. Best rackets on the market.

Been playing the DR98+ for the last 3 years and just demoed the SV95. SV is noticeably stiffer than the DR and I didn't like it. Also didn't have the flex of the DR.

Does the standard length DR98 have the same flexy feel as the extended?

SV is stiffer than DR98 standard imo, SV is a very good stick though other than that

Have had DR98 310 since it came out. I have also tried about 15 other racquets since then and keep coming back to the DR. It amazes me how many people have switched to this that did so for TE and then STILL use full poly. I usually use a nat gut/poly hybrid but just strung one up with all natural gut at 54 lbs.

Anyone tried the DR with full bed of ng? I will report back my findings.

Try VCORE 98. Been happy with the switch.

For those who put lead at 3 and 9, where did you put lead around the grip to get the racquet HL?
Underneath the top or bottom of the grip?

If you want to keep the balance roughly the same add same amount to 7" above buttcap (top of handle) as at 3&9. If you want to make it more HL add more or add some on the buttcap as well.

Hope that helps.

I need some help here guys. I'm considering switching to yonex but i get confuse all the time by users using once DR another time Ezone Dr or just Ezone.
I watched a TW review in which i believe they testing the model right after the AI and they were swearing about it as much better racquet than the AI.
Thanks

Ezone DR = DR for short
Ezone (just this word, without DR) is another model, newer than Ezone DR

Here is the order, oldest first.

Ezone Xi98 to Ezone Ai98 to Ezone DR98 to just simply Ezone. Ai and DR are the ones worth getting in most people's eyes, the Ezone is to be avoided absolute arm killer in upper hoop and overpowered as many have noted.

Try VCORE 98. Been happy with the switch.

I might also switch but not sure yet. I felt like it swung pretty similar and power/spin level also similar. But I didnt feel the ball as well as with the DR. Was that a correct feeling or could it have been that it was a different (stiffer) string?

Thank you vanworth!!!! last night I got to read some more reviews here and there on TWBoard, and there were some people talking about a what I'm guessing now after you lined up the different models, of a Ezone DR 98 310g. I looked it up on goggle but I could only find a 305g.
Did I miss it or it's just hard to find?
Thanks again!
