I've been working with a guy for the past couple years, if you're in the Montgomery County area he might be worth checking out. His website is brian bollman tennis (all one word) dot com. There's videos of him hitting if you want to have an idea of what to expect. He does outdoor lessons in Gaithersburg and indoor lessons at Cabin John.

I would recommend Mitchell Frank in Northern Virginia. Mitchell was a former #5 junior in the world. I really like the way he teaches, very much like what is taught one-on-one in Florida. In other words, there is another coach hitting with you while Mitchell Frank stands there and watch your technique. I don't think I see that at JTCC or anywhere in Northern Virginia. Mitchell Frank only charges $90/hour.

I tried to look up Brian Bollman for my nephew who lives in Gaitherburg Maryland. I looked up Brian Bollman on tennis recruiting and he was a 1-star recruit in 2010. Can you be a good tennis coach as a 1-star recruit? I don't know. Perhaps someone can answer that.

Can't really speak to the correlation between recruit status and coaching ability, but I think it will come down to what you're looking for. Personally I think he's a reasonable option for private lessons in the area and I've had nothing but positive experiences with him as an adult recreational player. He's catered to everything I've thrown at him, in terms of drills I wanted to try, or game scenarios I wanted to simulate, and bearing with me when I share all the crazy things about strings and racquets I read about on the internet.

Anyone on this thread in the Gaithersburg, MD area want to hit/play this weekend (Oct 4-6?) I live in Texas but will be in town for a week and don't want to go that long without playing. I am a 4.5 player and looking for similar.

Pretty sure Nick Bollettieri would have been a zero star ....
