How about McEnroe's thoughts? In 2018 he said, "Isner has a higher velocity serve, but I'm going with Nick's serve. It moves around the box more and explodes on impact. Best serve on tour I think."
I'd agree. He gets good action and it seems to push through the court more after impact. Combine that with not being able to predict where it's going and it makes it lethal. I was just cracking up after he finished his service game in 52 seconds.
You are correct on this one. Shorter toss and his motion to get it up to the ball is really fast. It's not smooth and flowing but more sharp and violent. He brings his racquet up fast and then just goes straight at the ball.
And he continuously keeps his opponents off balance because you never know what shot he's going to hit because he will try anything at any time. Sure he misses some but he also wins a good number of those points too.
