Thank you…Appreciate this vital update…So he didn’t do surgery? Any ideas??!
If we read Rafa's tweet I think it is safe to say that we don't know what proceedure he has undergone. It doesn't say that he has had surgery, neither does it say that he hasn't. Whatever he has had done I hope it is successful.

An agent of RNA has confirmed it is not surgery... see that tweet
I think the 'agent you refer to is someone who ran a large Rafa fan site and who attended Summer camps at the RNA. He received rwo trophies from Toni at the end of the Summer camp and apparently Toni said, "Oh you're the guy who knows a lot about Rafa". He was appointed an agent I think to spread the word about the Academy. I don't believe he holds a position that would give him access to Rafa's medical details.

Rafa's tweet said he had a treatment in the foot. Which could be a proceedure called Percutaneous decompression, but this is me surmising which is what I think the agent was doing.
Rafa employs an agent Carlos Costa and a PR agent Benito Perez. They are the only agents I would listen to.

quite possible.
but the guy says there has been no surgery , he may have some friend who gives him inside info.

He had stem cell therapy for his knee a while ago and wrote it had worked in his book. earlier the foot was not giving trouble as he had special insoles. but the weight distribution impacted the knees.
in 2020, he said knees were fine , foot started aching after some play.
non union of scaphoid in his foot can also be addressed with stem cell therapy, a podiatrist says ... just making guesses. don't know much specifics about Rafa.
anyway wishing all the best for his speedy recovery.

Hopefully what ever is going on works….I just want this this year to end at this stage and have felt that way for quite some time :(

Can you link this please, cheers
it was there in my 1st post on this topic... in the previous page, #29498.
See the tweet quoted at the end of the post.
now the guy has deleted it
Yes he very probably has. I still think the only people who should be making statements are Rafa's appointed personal agents. The rest becomes tittle -tattle and leads to all dorts of speculation. Rafa's own post should be enough.
agree. the tweet is deleted now.

it said, 'Confirmed it was not surgery... think he used 'confirmed'.
I just remember the gist... I was concerned to see Rafa in crutches with bandaged foot
Whatever it is, I think it's good news he's had a medical procedure to try and get it sorted. Leaving it untreated and hoping it wouldn't reoccur seemed to be a risky solution.

This guy clearly does seem to have info and connections with Rafa's entourage.

I think it's good he didn't undergo surgery, as that can have other long term risks. Hopefully whatever they have tried works well (y)

Not 100% convinced he didn’t undergo surgery - not a doctor but what else could you leave you in plaster and a crutch?!? Anyway as you say hopefully something positive to come out of this :)

The academy is part of the sports centre

The academy's player Daniel Rincon (from Spain) won the 2021 US Open boys' singles title!

Yes it does. According to Diaro de Mallorca Rafa has had surgery. https://www.diariodemallorca.es/deportes/2021/09/11/rafa-nadal-pasa-hospital-tratarse-57178694.html

If this is what he has undergone there is a detailed description here https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...oQFnoECAcQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2c3mppt1AQ3CV7P7orK9cs

That study is crazy. That's just some regular Joe Schmo suffering from Muller Weiss syndrome and his described pain was 10/10. The treatment Rafa supposedly received it says brought him to 2/10 after 6 months but that guy just needs to walk around and function normally, not return to an elite athletic level like Rafa.

I agree with you about the level of function that Rafa would require in comparison to someone who just needs to walk around.

I was referring to this section, which is seems to explain a complicated proceedure, if indeed it is what Rafa had done. However it's all speculation.

"CASE STUDY AND SURGICAL PROCEDURE Under mild sedation, the patient was brought into the operatng room and placed on the operang table in a supine position..............

Where does it mention surgery in that link? I read it and no mention of the word surgery or operation.

It seems like the treatment that has been speculated on is a good bet based on the fact that Rafa is in a cast and on crutches. Not a full on operation but a "procedure" if you will under a local anesthetic.

Rafa's new house in Porto Cristo

Scroll down for photo of construction site of the house Rafa Nadal is building for himself in Porto Cristo, Mallorca.

VANESA SÁNCHEZ | 04 Sept 2021

It is impossible to cast a look around the horizon and not be impressed. From left to right, from the cliff rising out of the water to the installations of the Porto Cristo Club Naútica everything that provokes one's amazement, curiousity, envy, suspicion even, is associated with Rafael Nadal

The first thing that draws your attention - and it is impossible to miss - when you arrive at this Manacor fishing port, is his 5.5 million euro, 24 metre long 80 Sunreef Power catamaran moored at the dock. Its size eclipses all the other boats, no matter how powerful they are, and every time it weighs anchor and sets out to sea, tourists' cameras start flashing.

Right on the extreme left of the bay, the to and fro of an immense crane transporting huge blocks of stone can be observed. What will be Rafael Nadal and his wife Maria Perello's forever family home also has a location of privilege in Porto Cristo. Far from indiscreet flash bulbs, the main house and its ancillary buildings, bought by Nadal in 2013 for 4 million euros, are built on a 7000 square metre (1.7 acre) plot of land wih unsurpassable views. The mansion, inspired by local traditional architecture, has private access to the sea via a flight of stone steps - which has not escaped controversy as many local youngsters get to the water in summer by diving from them and this custom at times is an invasion of the owners' property and privacy.

The house has been undergoing a profound remodel for some time now. Various media sources reported some months ago that most of the original had been completely demolished and they were rebuilding from the bottom up but the truth is that the impressive villa still has its stone exterior in the Mallorcan style so typical of the area but its interior is now equipped with the most modern technology and is minimalistic in style.

While the construction work proceeds at a steady pace, the couple live in another of the many properties the Nadal clan have accumulated in the area. Both Rafael's uncles Miguel Ángel Nadal and Toni Nadal live in the area, as do his parents Sebastián Nadal and Ana Maria Parera. It should not be forgotten that, according to Forbes magazine, the fortune of the whole family taken together is around 275 million euros.

So AO is only just over 4 months away.....Anyone think Rafa is going?? Maybe a stupid question since nobody knows...I have renewed optimism after last night and desperate to see him play again...

You think??? Even reading that I feel a little rush....It’s being the hardest couple of months for me tennis wise - every tournament ruined for obvious reasons...Damn I feel optimistic/hopeful again...

Our boy is the bull for a reason. He knows this will be his last push, and he's not going to lay down and take it lightly. He's going to give it everything he has. Will it be enough? If not, it's ok, he's 35..... but I expect more than what we saw in 2021.

I don't think he'll play AO. That would be a really nice bonus to see him there IMO. Just hope he's back healthy afterwards.

Yeah if I had to guess I don’t think he will but who knows :) I also think quarantine rules for Australia might play a role - again who knows what way Australia will be by then…Also I wonder is he going to take a serious look at at how many hardcourt tournaments he plays at moving towards his 36th birthday…

No doubt he will give it everything like he always does….I suppose I’m just not sure how much is left….I suppose we are all asking that question….Hopefully get some positive news on his foot in next couple of weeks…

But 2021 was impossible to read. He entered the AO with a weird back injury he's unlikely to have again, and still was a couple points from the semifinal. He was up and down all through clay season, still winning two tournaments and beatings Zverev, Tsitsipas and Djokovic in high-profile matches. And even on a severely wounded foot, he played an epic semi at the FO. His game is still top-notch. I think it now comes down to him, #1, getting his ranking up so he's not having to go through a killer draw at the FO, and #2, his foot holding up for a 3 month stretch. He can always take off Wimbledon and get back on the North American hardcourt swing.

Yeah I actually took a look at his results earlier today - he won 2 decent tournaments....My big disappointment was AO again....FO wasn’t too bad even though Djokovic - kind of felt he was due a loss - can’t win every time.....I don’t think he can win on HC again - too many competitors now....FO and Wimbledon (due to shorter points/less competition) probably best bet in my eyes....

Totally agree, his game is still clearly there. He had Tsitsipas dead to rights in that AO QF despite the back issue. If his foot cooperates he will be back.
