This right here…could not agree more.I'll trust a guy that can change his own brakes and has only strung twenty racquets over a guy who has strung
200/2000 frames, but can't install a fluidmaster valve in his toilet.

We’ve been empty nesters for about 3 years now. Just bought lake front property on Lake Keowee last month. Building our retirement home in about 4 years. Counting down the days…
I’ve fished Lanier and Keowee…Lanier a heap more. We used to wear the stripers and crappie out at Lanier many years ago. I bought my camper many years ago from a fella who lives at Lanier. That is awesome! I was just at Lake Lanier for a conference.
We are actually mid western ers so our plan is a lake cottage up here with a great book, a knit blanket, and a fire during the winter. I might have a Scotch as well.
We miss our kid a great deal as he is off with college and tennis but it is great watching him spread his wings.

I dated a gal back in HS who had an orange Tii…was a ‘72 or ‘73 I believe if memory serves. Was a good running little Beemer.Dunno, but a '72 2002Tii resto should qualify you. 'Did me.
I'm doubting Swervin' could change a headlamp, yet the spew is here 30-40 times/day.
I’m more into the water sports side of things (water skiing/wakeboarding/wakeskating), but will likely take up fishing once we’re there full time. I kinda like the idea of going out in the morning to catch the day’s dinner.I’ve fished Lanier and Keowee…Lanier a heap more. We used to wear the stripers and crappie out at Lanier many years ago. We have exactly ONE "MRT" in my town. He's a good stringer, but he's no better than I am.
He does, however, approach it as a business.......has a TF account, Fromouth, among others, etc.
Dude works a fulltime job then comes home and strings rackets all nite.
He's weird, clearly no social life etc (not that it matters).
MRT doesn't mean anything, unless it means something to you. What matters is quality of work.
Luckily our local MRT is actually good at his craft.
Nice! Which one? I spent my summers as a kid on Cayuga, just north of Taughannock State Park (my father was from Trumansburg, near Cornelle), then as a teenager on Honeoye. My home is on a finger lake.

Nice photo! I'm guessing that was taken back in June?
As a kid I was a huge winter sports person. Played hockey growing up, skied regularly at Bristol, with an annual family trip to Whiteface or Killington, and got into cross-country skiing during college. And while I do miss some of it...damn it can get cold up there. It really is a beautiful region to live in…until winter sets in. Well, unless you’re an avid winter sport/activity kind of person. (I am not).
I like how this thread has gone from 'requirements to be a stringer' to conversations about retirement homes, lakes, and old BMWs...
yep, yep. i have some sort of an OCD and my wife always calls me "special"..... lolWe're special and have OCD. My non-frivolous answer is if you are alive and have the inclination, you can learn to string. Whether you can get good enough to be a commercial stringer is unknown as I have seen some very bad commercial stringers. This is why I string my own cuz after seeing them, I said to myself, I can do better.
