Any opinions on Wilson K-Gut?

I was thinking of trying in a hybrid and haven't heard or seen any reviews. Thanks for your thoughts.

I tried the K-gut demo and did not like it that much. It felt like a cheap multi.

I have tried it an it is an outstanding string. Apparently, opinions differ but I really like it.

Would you recommeng K Gut over something like Babolat Tonic+ natural gut?

Tonic is a much better string than K-gut, IMO. I shouldnt really say K-gut is a cheap multi, but I should rather say its definetly not worth the 22 bucks.

No; inferior though Tonic+ is as gut goes--and it certainly isn't as comfortable as the K Gut, too--it still holds up longer.

Excellent question. One way to look at it is in terms of economics. I can buy Babolat Tonic natural gut from TW then have it strung by a top pro tour stringer for a total expenditure of $50. Or I can buy top of the line Babolat VS natural gut, installed, for a total of $60. Or K-Gut/K-Gut Pro installed for $36.50.

I have played Babolat VS, and like so many others I found it to be what tennis dreams are made of – especially at the mid-tension.

I have not played Tonic. Many on this board recommend it as a decent compromise due to the high price and exceptional performance of Babolat VS. But my sense is that if you don't mind paying an extra $13.50 for Tonic above the installed price for K-Gut/Pro, you might like to spend the extra $10 for Babolat VS – at least once. After you've played Babolat VS, you'll know what the best multifilament strings are attempting to be like.

K-Gut/K-Gut Pro is probably the best “gut-like” multifilament – in my experience, along with the advantages of multifilaments. I play multi in the outdoor summer season because it's more resilient than gut, when exposed to heat, high humidity and sudden drizzle or downpours.

I did not like K-Gut and for the price you have many better choices. Gosen JC or AK strings play much better for less. I also like the very inexpensive Forten sweet 16.
