Why hasn't Seles officially announced retirement ?

It's been more than 4 years (French Open '07) since her last official match. Does she secretly think she will ever come back ? I mean she's 33...She's not even involved in tennis anymore apparently.

Isn't Capriati still supposedly an active player? Maybe they just won't admit what the rest of us already know -- it's over.

I think its painful to make it official. Certainly the case for most people, and I think when Seles looks back its even more so for her. Its nice not to have to specifically rule it out while you let time go by and make the announcement for you instead.

I read that Seles is hoping to come back and play a limited amount of tournaments (most likely Grand Slam events) and that she feels she has 4 or 5 more good tournaments in her before she plans on officially retiring. Her foot injury was rather serious from what I understand.

I still am not sure whether I believe that she indeed will make another comeback. My money is on no because I don't see it happening, but from the pics I have seen of her lately she is in excellent shape and MUCH thinner.

I'm not surprised that Capriati hasn't made it offical yet. From what I've heard she keeps trying to make it back. She's like 30 though. So I don't know. She's the same age as Davenport though. Apperently she's coming back, so there's no telling.

As much as I love Seles... I think 33 is a bit too old to do antyhing but doubles. I'd love to see her maybe play a little doubles though.

She'd have to make a run for next year. She could have a go at singles 34-35 possibly. Andre had a late run and the women's game might be a bit more amiable to a run like that. Who knows. I'd love to see it.
