Will someone answer his question already...
It's serving with an eastern grip... very 'wristy' and quite effective for lower levels...
But you'll max out on this type of serve... mechanics just ain't right... not to mention that it hurts the wrist over time...

Nothing beats the continental... unlimited potential on service swing speed...

I'd say it's serving with a full western grip. That's how I hold a frying pan.

Becker served with an eastern grip. There's nothing wrong with that.

ok.. partial eastern.

Use frying pan grip, if you play tennis less twice a week. it is easier. no muscle memory or feel, it is hard to use eastern or continental grip.

What is the frying pan grip? Is it like holding your raquet like side on?
lay the racquet on a table in front of you with handle towards you (i.e. just like a frying pan... =) ), and as naturally as possible pick it up. that's a frying pan grip. don't ever serve with this, except for fun to hit a screw ball serve. it's not natural and prone to injury, be careful.

Using the eastern grip on serve means you have the tendancy to hit it into the net because you're hitting down and flat.
