Anybody have a NAKED racquet?

Thinking about stripping the paint off of a K95 and keeping it off. I remember someone on the board stripping a k90 and it looked nice with the carbon weave pattern. I'd put a clear coat on and call it a day. Just wondering if the lack of paint will affect the playability / stiffness and even durability due to the lack of paint. Please post pics if your have a naked racquet

That's probably the racquet you were talking about. Sorry the pictures aren't better as they were taken with a camera phone. The paint definitely took alot of weight off the head, hence the lead to compensate. You could check it after the clear coat and determine how much you need to add to get the stock balance back if that is what you want. I didn't really notice a change in stiffness, although it makes sense it might be a little less stiff I doubt paint really stiffens up a racquet when compared to graphite or carbon fiber. I just looked over the heads of my racquets and while it is quite easy to chip paint (it practically flakes off as it is) it is apparently very difficult to scratch or chip the racquet itself. I can't physically feel any scratches nor can I visually see any even though I know I put my racquet on the court alot. Plus if you're clear coating it that will provide a level of protection as well.

Nice! It was your racquet that I remembered seeing. How did you strip the paint? Via a normal spread on paint stripper and steel wool?

I have a PS 6.0 85 with the faces stripped. It does look cool. Still hits fine.

Just start off with something stout, I guess steel wool would work but I was too scared to do it. I used a 100 grit sandpaper > 300 grit > 500 grit > 1000 grit I think it was with a wet sand then used I believe it was a 1500 or 2000 grit with a bit of paint thinner to finish off any little marks left.

That naked wilson looks awesome man. Maybe some clearer camera pics if you ever get the chance.

Got bored and started sanding the outside edges my k95 6.1. Didn't discover the nice carbon weave, but rather just plain old graphite

don't know the K6.1 95 stick very well, but did it say it was double braided graphite?

i am going to do this on my hyper PS tour 90.. i have 4 of them, and the one that has the most chips in the paint is going to be stripped naked and clear coated !!

u know ive been willing to do this to my k90 but been scared of screwing up the weight.
