I think my dog is having a mid-life crisis

He is a little over 7 years, he was usually high on energy and always ready to play.

Recently though, he's been trying to get me to play with him all the time, he gets a ball whenever he can, and if I don't want to play (because I'm busy), he either tries to climb on me, or he starts barking at me

Maybe I should get him a sports car or something.....

Take him out for a good run. That will calm him down.

He's behaving like a dog that doesn't get enough attention, exercise, or is very bored.

He's been on the same routine for a while now, he gets to come to the office with me, and he does some running around there, he also has a few play dates.

He has a pretty good life, he also has a cat "sister" around for company.

It just started out of the blue, at around 7-8 years...

Anyway, mid-life crisis or not, I hope it will pass soon.

:-D great thread, after all the fighting thats been happening lately.

Mebbe he was watching too much of the AO and is inspired by Tsonga's sudden rise, lol. He wants to have a shot at stardom too.

If you have a beach or some place for him to swim nearby, that's your answer. Nothing wears a dog out more or makes him happier.

He's 49 in dog yrs, so entering that depression stage - start feeding him some good steak & see if that works.

I really think he just wants more attention, but there's only so much I can do...

He gets plenty of play time.

I'll keep you all updated ;)

Please keep us up to date on developments. This is almost as important as Brittany's breakdown!

I'm not sure if this was related to his "mid life crisis" (since physically he was 110%), but he was diagnosed with Cancer last week (Mast cell tumor).

He went into surgery last Thursday (the pic is from that night when I visited him, he looked like a wasted drunk :)).

About 3-4 days later he seemed like nothing ever happened to him.....

I was under a lot a stress waiting for the results from the lab, to show what type it was, there are 3 types, the first 2 are fairly mild, and type 3 is very aggressive and normally means that there are leftover cancer cells that would require further treatment (radiation or chemo).

Yesterday I got the Good News, it was type 2, and the lab results showed they got enough margins around the tumor, so he is cancer free now!!!!!

That's good news. Just found out today that my sister's new dog has heartworms. But she'll be alright because we're paying the $400 to get it taken care of.
