Donnay TW OS vs POG 4 stripe...really

Is the Donnay really easier to swing? I have 2 4 stripe pog OS's and they are 12.2 and 12.3 oz with leather and overgrip. they are also about 9 pts headlight (at least as I meaure them). I have a donnay pro int mp and it is exactly 12.2 and 6 pt headlight (as I measure) and swings a little heavier to me. My point is that the Donnay OS says it has a swingweight of 318 but it has almost same weight and balance as the mp. Not saying I don't like the mp, I am hitting with it today for kicks but If the Donnay OS was slightly lighter, I would probably get one just to have for fun as an alternative to my prince POG 4 stripe. I just don't want to get one if they are almost Identical. Has anyone played with both the POG OS and a Donnay OS that can really tell a difference?

just because the balance and weight are the same it does not mean that the sticks will feel the same, you need to measure the swing weights

I agree, I just find it hard to believe that the Donnay would have a much lighter swing weight when it is not as headlight and weighs the same. The MP which I just tried, is headlight banance but has more weight i nthe head thatn I like. I'll be passing that one on. If the OS has the same feel, I would not like it as much as my PoGs but if it feels slightly easier to swing than my POG's I think it would be fun to have one.

I agree. Plus the Donnay OS will encounter more wind resistance (larger head) which should increase the swingweight even more. That's a pretty low swingweight for a hefty OS player's racquet.

I don't know how relevant my comparison is but I've been using some of the newer "Tour" POG OS and own a circa 1990 Donnay Pro 1 OS (yellow\blue). The Donnay, for whatever reason feels much lighter to swing. I "flick" forehands alot so I can usually tell what rackets feel heavier in the head to me and which don't. I don't know if it the fact that my Pro1 OS doesn't have a head guard, or if the balance of the newer POGs is different from the 4 stripe...just don't know. But from someone who has hit both (sort of) the Donnay does swing lighter.

Hi Mark
I currently play with the 4 striped POG OS and been forthe last 10 years. I also just got some demo's which included the Donnay OS. Just from observations I decided not to even waste my time, because if the following.

1. The grip shape is slightly diifferent than my POG, I won't say it is as awk word as a Head Grip Shape, but it diffenetly not as round and full in my hand as my POG.
2. Grip length, it is very short for a baseline racquet for someone who has a
2HBH.

3. Poor quality grommets, the demo I have has some grommets in the racquet that are short and stretched and some of the of the strings coming out of some of these grommets are so close drill holes of the frame, it wouldn't surprise me if someone pops some strings at the grommot due to the sharp edges of the drill holes that the grommot comes out of.

Maybe I am to crital but, those things are enough for me not to even give the frame a chance.

my 4 stripes are definately easier to swing than the new POGs. I will probably try the Donnay ....can'[t stand it.
thats strange... I have both the old and the new POG OS but i had the opposite impression... anyway i will check that when i get back home today.... with regards to the Donnay OS i just found a local dealer that have some sleeping stock of both the OS and the MP limited edition (grey-blue-red pj version) and i just purchased a brand new OS for something like 50$.... measured static weight: 12.3oz strung with an overgrip... it actually swings definitely lighter than either of the POG OSs.
btw its very very flexy.. flex index is something like 58... played with it yesterday and it feels like pure butter... oh yes and spin is awesome, simply awesome:)

let me clarify, My 4 stripes weigh 12.2 and 12.3 oz with leather and overgrip. One is 9 pts headlight and the other 10 pt.s (with my way of measuring them which is very accurate acording to other sticks I have measured and their pts on TW website). Now, I used to own an even older POG OS that had a single stripe.....I got rid of it when I realized how heavy it felt compared to the 4 stripes....I mean a lot harder to swing.

Could you email me at markwillplay@embarqmail.com ? I would like to ask you some other questions about your new TW stick. I will try to email you as well.
