So, I finally saw TDK today (a movie I had been dying to see since I saw Batman Begins and knew there would be a sequel), and first of...WOW. Just wow. That was easily one of my favorite movies of all-time. However, as that initial wow left me while exiting the theaters, I thought that the movie brought up some really deep themes, and I was wondering what you guys thought about themes, symbolism, etc. in the movie.
As far as favorite quotes/scenes, this was by far my favorite:
"Two-Face: You thought we could be decent men in an indecent world. But you were wrong; the world is cruel, and the only morality in a cruel world is chance.
[holds up his coin]
Two-Face: Unbiased.
[looks at Gordon]
Two-Face: Unprejudiced. Fair."
I guess that's my favorite because I think everyone can relate to how Harvey feels. I think at some point, everyone has felt that they were cheated out of something: whether it's how smart you are, what has happened to you, but there is some inadequacy that frustrates us about ourselves and we feel that the world is all about chance. Hence, the adage "life is unfair". I think that the symbolism of Harvey Dent and how easily corruptible such an honorable person was truly amazing and the fact that the directors captured this so incredibly truly amazed, especially since most comic book movies are just cheap thrills.
But anyway, what's your guys' thoughts?
