My Tennis

Good stuff.

Things to improve upon:

Shoulder rotation: at least 180 degrees, whenever possible. Extend the non dominant arm a little more and leave it there longer before the initial forward swing.

Weight transfer: Weight completely transferred to left leg (since you're not really a lefty, haha). This will come more naturally with better shoulder rotation.

Footwork: Looks pretty good, but make sure you're getting set up BEFORE the ball bounces whenever you can.

Slice technique: NO drive on that thing whatsoever. Noticed that you were using it when you got caught out of position though. Don't know if you've worked on a good driving slice yet or not.

Best of luck,

Matt

Looks good! Start making it a habit to take the ball a bit earlier. You don't do it on every shot, but some look like they're catching you with your weight on you heels.

Yeah, you look really good for 13, and you look practiced good for 3 years of tennis regardless of age.
Chance for pro...of course, you're well along the way already.
Hope you can make time for tennis 5 hours a day, 6 days a week for the next 3 years. By junior, you'd be #1 highschooler in the state, easy 5.0 tournament Men's player, if not better.
Keep playing.

Yeah, the one slice I saw was short, aborted, very abrupt, and looked more like a drop shot.

bad news guys, I couldn't get the slice video today..

Practice was supposed to be four hours but got cut short so Ill try to post it sometime soon.

You seem to be a very good player already. Very nice strokes, I hope you can continue to keep up the hard work. I like the nike btw too...nice.

Your strokes are quite good. What you should be practicing now is lots of different tactics, so you can apply them during matchplay without thinking.

wait, you ARE a lefty, aren't you? in the video you write you are not a lefty, yet I'm almost positive that you're hitting with your left hand. can you explain?

*edit* also, you're only 13??!? your face looks a little bit like the bryan brothers, with that hat on.

Lol, the video is flipped horizontally. It was filmed from the right side of the court if you're facing the net.

the shoes are Nike Breathe Cages II not available in that color on TW anymore

Very nice and fluid strokes.

You have had good instruction - you are very smooth for only having played 3 years.

It would be nice to see some video from behind to see the action on your ball and also some serves.

I play college, and those strokes look better than most players that I play against.

I have 2 suggestions:
1) Others have said, but I will reiterate - early contact point is crucial. You do this often, only a few shots were late.
2) The modern game is all about racquet head speed. Think controlled smooth speed. Don't whip the racquet, but accelerate it smoothly through the contact point. You do this well, but sometimes juniors start to muscle the ball to get more power - avoid the trap.

Basically what I am saying is that your technique is already very developed.
The main ways for you to improve will be consistency, point construction, and fitness.

It looks like you have a nice body type for tennis - slender, but not skinny, and you look relatively tall for your age.

Keep up the good work and let us know how you are doing!
