Down to 2 racquets (both Fischers). Which would you choose?

I'll give my brief background and then ask, which would you choose? why?

Previous racquet:
Gamma T-7, static weight about 12.1oz (b/c of lead in handle)

What I want:
Soft, flexy feel
Low powered, control oriented
Stability (I don't mind tinkering w/ lead tape and string setup)

What I don't want:
Too much "pop" (like you get from stiff frames). A little "pop" is nice :)
Frame twisting

Deciding between:
Fischer M Comp 95
Fischer M Pro One 98

I've hit w/ the 95. I like it. A lot. It is definitely low powered. I wonder if I could benefit from a few more sq inches of head size?

I haven't demo'd the 98 (not yet anyway). How different is it? The frame is quite a bit thicker in some places isn't it? How does that affect the feel?

Which would you choose? Why?

Semi-Pro
98sl

I have a 98 sl but have never hit with the the other frame so am not able to
offer anything other than the 98 is very good.
It provides good feel and is very accurate so I can't imagine picking up much of anything with the other frame there.
I like the way it serves. It also has better kick than I expected, comfortable if you have arm issues, but in no way lacks feel.

On a shallow note it looks nice as well, can you demo?

Yes, I can demo, and I might. But I've got 4 out right now, which will be sent back tomorrow (so that's a few days) and then I've got to place the next demo, so another few days (plus, at that point I'm up to nearly $40 worth of demoing), and I was kinda hoping I could convince myself to just pick one and feel reasonably confident that once I get grooved on either one, I will be just fine.

I know I should demo it, but I am impatient!

Just posted in your other thread......
The racket (m Comp) deffo needs low tension, low 50s, and its sensitive to different strings. I had alu power and gamma pro and i got nothing from it, I sold it to my mate when i took on the Rebel and he put my set up below in it and it works great, think he;s got it at 52lbs, gotta be 17g too. loads of power and spin, he's a very good player and his touch is superb.
As for the difference between the 2 rackets i think very little, the M comp being a little more difficult with headsize and weight, but I moved from the 98 to the 95 and prefered the 95.

When I say power, I mean he rips lthe ball so hard knowing it wont go out, controlling it with lots of top and the rackets natural low power.

You say you moved from the 98 to the 95 and preferred the 95, but you also said you sold it to your mate. So I guess you don't use it anymore?

What made you switch from 98 to 95 and then to the Rebel?

What is your playing level if you don't mind my asking?

I have owned both racquets and I preferred the 98. The 95 was very sensitive to what type of string used in the racquet. The 98 is pretty consistent with any string. I have tried full poly, full synthetic, full gut and hybrids. No matter what it still has that unique soft feel. The 95 felt stiffer and I had a more difficult time getting good topspin on my ground strokes. I had the club pros hit with both racquets and both picked the 98.

I'd opt for the 98...better overall frame and good platform from which to customize. I used it for years for dubs play. Very soft, precise, and low powered.

I think you guys have got me convinced. I'm going to "take the plunge"

Thanks!

My level is 4.5
I moved from one to another as i say i was struggling with the pace on serve and hoped the smaller head would work. I used it for a few months and still had problems with the serve. For some reason it was tiring me a lot as it wasnt giving me that extra pop. You gotta understand that this was through the winter and the balls were heavy and my string choice was wrong.
Thats why I moved to the Rebel, it seemed a similar spec but Id heard good reviews about its pop.
What I was looking for I suppose was something inbetween the fischer comp 95 and the k6.1 95 which was way too powerful with no spin. I found that in the rebel, serves like a dream like the wilson and has that soft flex and feel of the fischer (better IMO) but also comes with major spin too to control the added pop.
So i found my bit in the middle!

My friend who owns the m comp is a 5.5 singles player and i did want to say I played better doubles with the 98. I remember buying it and thinking it was the most beautiful racket id ever seen and felt, still do in fact, you cant go wrong with it, all my friends loved it too.

If your serve is your main weapon tho.....it needs a little more thought.

go with the mcomp 95. you'll be happy you did. the 98 is good, but a bit light. the mcomp is a good all around racquet, though a bit tension sensitive.

go with the ninety and add lead if you want thats what bi did its awesome

That was my thinking as well. I used to use the Gamma T-7, which was 100sq inches, and too light. The M Pro 98 is heavier and just a tad smaller in head size, which is what I"m after. I added a significant amount of lead to the T-7 and will have no problem tinkering around and doing the same with the M Pro 98.

(Serve is not my main weapon, and I'm content to just place well thought out serve -- I'm not obsessed with serving bullets)

For the users posting here that use the M Comp what tension are you stringing and with what string setup. I've been hitting with one for the last week with NXT 16 that I would guess was strung around 57. I am going to set my first one up with VS Team and one of the softer 17g copoly's I have on the shelf. I am thinking of stringing it at 54 or 55.

look at the Magnetic Tour.......

Deciding between:
Fischer M Comp 95
Fischer M Pro One 98

Which would you choose? Why?

I've played them all and much prefer the Fischer Magnetic Tour SL over the MComp and the M Pro ......... I went from the T7 to the Mag Tour and later the 330X ..... left the Mag Tour only because I needed more power (which you apparently do not).

If you liked the T7 at all, you will love the Mag Tour SL (the Express still has them at a great price)

Right now mine is strung with prince synthetic gut duraflex 17g at 53lbs and I'm loving it.

I always strung my Fischers at the low end of the tension recc. Usually with a hybrid set-up of multi mains @ 53 and poly crosses @ 50

Yeah, the Mag Tour looks to be similar in a number of ways to the others I've demo'd. Maybe at some point I'll give one a shot.
