Where should it go? I saw a post saying they would like it if they moved the FO out of france and it got me thinking what cities could hold a slam? Personally I highly doubt that they would ever move the slam out of france, but just for fun vote or suggest cities

The other post said nothing about moving it out of France. It said (and in a hypothetical manner) it could be moved out of the Roland Garros complex.

Out of those picks, we have to absolutely rule out anything in the states.

Out of those, I think Roma and Barcelona are the most fitting for a claycourt slam.

Most slams are held in the capital (except voor AO). If there is gonna be a clay slam outside of France I vote Spain, Madrid.

Still, it doesn't take away the fact that Madrid is a more historical and glamorous place than Barcelona. Which would make it, from that point, a more suitable place than Barcelona.

What do their birthplaces have to do with the town selection? Madrid is a capital with a good infrastructure and it has a brand new fairly big tennis stadium which Barcelona doesn't.

It's not good for Nadal, because the ball bounces different and floats a bit longer in the air. I haven't been there, but I've seen the Madrid Maters on TV and it doesn't look nice. A lot of steel or something like that.

I think that in-shape Rafa doesn't have problems playing on any surface, especially on clay. And even if Madrid clay isn't so comfortable as Monte Carlo of Paris, he can deal with it. As for Caja Magica, I like how it looks, but players complained a lot about the quality of the surface especially in the practice courts, and my friends who went to this tournament said that the food was lousy. The tournament owner promised to improve all the criticized aspects. They have steel lining in the boxes only.

I think that there should be more Grand Slams tournaments during the year in the following locations:
AFRICA : Egypt or South Africa
SOUTH AMERICA:Argentina or Brazil
ASIA:China or Japan
EUROPE:poland,Hungary,Bulgaria or Romania
NORTH AMERICA:Mexico or Canada
If not, some existing tournaments should be upgraded to Grand Slams...

LOL :mrgreen: you are the one who sound like a madrilen.As a neutral person I can tell you that me and the whole 50 person group I travelled with and everyone I have spoken with agrees on this,Barcelona is far far more beautiful, than Madrid with a charm,a cultural aura that Madrid just lacks and will never have.

Then they wouldn't be grand slams, because there would be more than four and grand slam refers to four. Masters series do a good enough job for the other stuff.

in fact, even of Barcelona only had the Ramblas and the Gaudi houses and nothing else, it would still be better than Madrid in every possible way...
