I thought the ones from Fall 08 were blue. These look black
Edit: maybe it's my eyes but they could be blue too. Although I think on the Punjab colorway (the blue Fall 08), the stripes were silver

16, I would think very few pros or none at all use 15, 17 or 18.

You will have to check the actual string diameter and not just rely on what the manufacturer says is 16, 17, 18. Examples:
Gamma TNT2 Pro Plus 17L 1.25
Pro Supex Synth Gut 120 1.2

Pacific Poly Power 18 1.09
Pacific tough gut16 1.26
Gamma Professional 18 1.22
