Horrible everything at practice...Any tips?

Alright so today was the second day of practice, this being my first year on the team, Not to mention I haven't played on outdoor courts for matches and stuff so I'm not used to them..But the courts were semi cleared, still water on them.. so we started to play a bit.. My serve was horrendous. It kept going to the ad box on the deuce side and etc, The sun was the only thing in my way.. Wind was pretty minimal.. All my strokes were just off.. Conceited players and a lame coach doesn't make it any better. The coach plays favorites, She hates new people. Due to that, the Varsity and top JV players are basically the same. One kid is a total jerk and just nails the ball into the person at the net.. But near the coach he's a suck up.

Any tips for

- The sun in your face
- Annoying and conceited players
- An overall horrible coach
- When strokes fall apart

I've read Winning Ugly almost 3 times now, I go back to it whenever I remember something in it that would help me, But the book really doesn't help when it comes to those tips. I mean there's small sections about the sun and when strokes fall apart, but not the most explanatory..

Work hard, get better.

No seriously, nothing you listed can be helped by anyone here. Your skill will speak for itself on any team, crappy coach and conceited players or not.

Sun in your face. get sunglasses, wear a cap, or focus your central vision on the ball. unless the sun is right on top, when i focus completely on the ball and nothing else, the sun doesn't get in my way as much.

Annoying and conceited players. Deal with them. 2 ways; beat them, ignore them.

horrible coach. Not sure..can't really help with this, not much you can do.

When strokes fall apart. Don't slow down your swing speed. Make sure to accelerate through contact. Play consistent, Use your feet more to get into position. If playing matches, do whatever you can consistently as you exploit opponents weakness. Be it pushing, slicing, s&v, etc.

The book didn't help you because you didn't let it help you. You gotta shut Self 1 up, don't think about anything, and let Self 2 do the smacking... In your case don't give a crap about anythin and just play!

Do what the coach asks you to do, get used to the sun, have no opinion of the suck up. I know it's easier said than done, but you have to discipline yourself to leave out the noises, and that aint a rosy road.

Play more, get experience, and soon you will get better.
You suck right now outdoors. You need experience more than anything.
At least you didn't blame your shoes.
