I am lovin Milos's Lacoste kit, but if his performance and success continues into 2012 I am betting good money he will be Nike's next minion. I know Nike usually operates by identifying young talent and riding the train as they come into their own, while Adidas is more of a mid-career sniper (i.e. Murray from Fred Perry), but no way Nike would let a rising star slip through its hands.

I am interested to hear what everyone else thinks in regards to his apparel sponsorship and who he will end up with????

On a side note, I know Wilson is loving all this, and probably would bet the farm on his carrying on the torch after Federer.

Sorry I forgot to include Sergio Tacchini in the poll, but really I only consider it down to his staying with Lacsote or going to Nike; I mean he already wears Nike's on his feetzzz:)

My vote goes to Nike. He is too sophisticated for Adidas :)

Too much of a hype job - Nike won't buy it.

Doubt he will stay with lacoste much longer however. They just never have great champions with the guys they sponsor. But the guy just doesn't suit being geared up in Nike.

What about k-swiss? They have been jumping on the young player train by picking up Monfils and Querry, and the Bryan brothers. There not so young anymore though...

Yeah forgot about K-Swiss. Sorry about that. K-Swiss has so much potential in my eyes, but most of what they put out season to season is a bit fringe for my taste. Every time I see the Bryan Brother's, Querry, Monfils, or Fish walk out on court I get reminiscent of American Gladiators, especially with this past seasons stash!

roddicks getting old so lacoste will prob push $$$ towards milos raonic because they need someone in the top 10 or it'll be meaningless.

LOL what....Nike were fooled by Donald Duck.....I wouldn't be suprised if they went a bit more with Milos who has a better ranking! He might just get free gear but a small fee unlike the big guys!

Bet he has to break top 10 before Nike gets interested.

I'm thinking he gets a new Wilson PJ sometime soon, though...

Dropping a mill on Donald was worth the risk to capture someone who they thought would have a serious impact on the US market. They payoff would have been massive if Donald panned out.

Question is if the Canadian tennis market is that big for Nike to take a similar risk with Milos.

Milos has an entire country of tennis fans without a single player to cheer for. Now that Milos he has arrived however, and is actually good, he should be a very good investment for whoever captures him.

He has one of the best serves in the game already. Its only going to get better. He'd be very good to have attached to one of the raquet brands.

Wilson has both Milos and Sasha Dolgopolov.

I also think Milos may stay with Lacoste because his home audience is half-French.

he'll become a short term contracted adi drone.

there really is no established tennis market for him.

he'll have to build tennis interest in canada all by himself.

that'll take atleast 5 years and lots of successful media campaigns.

Those Nike guys are pretty sharp, they were quick to get Donald Young under contract at 15 years old, and recently decided Sharapova has a good 7 years of tennis left so why not give her 70 million too.

A Canadian doesn't mean much to adidas - or to anyone, really. It doesn't matter how successful he is; the scope of his appeal is inherently limited. adidas seems to have moved away from North American tennis players, and with good reason. None of them are any good. So Nike, with all their untold zillions, will sign him. Just because they can. Who knows? Maybe K-Swiss or Under Armour goes bold and signs him.

They said stuff like that about Sam Querrey, too. And it's not like Canada has a huge tennis-playing population - hardly a big coup for someone to "capture" the 137 Canucks who play the game.

good on you for admitting that I in fact called out the hype before and not after he beat verdasco as you said.

Thanks for playing.

It seems that since Verdasco lost to the all serve 12 year old, you all of a sudden have some kind of impulse to mention him in almost EVERY thread that he's a hype job and that he's getting unwarranted attention.

You're just as annoying as all the fools that think he's destined to win 20 slams.

Maria signed a 70 mil contract with Nike?

Nike does well with the young guys, they had Federer, Ferrero, Rios, Moya, Hewitt when they were young and now they have Harrison, Tomic, Dimitrov and Krajinovic. Raonic will be next in the Nike stable

He already wears Nike shoes; shoes are probably tougher to switch than apparel. As for racket, he'll probably get the Blade Tour or Sampras' new frame (if the rumors are true).

You guys know Adidas can't compete with Nike when it comes to endorsements. Even in soccer they are having trouble keeping up..

Maria for $70 million is quite high, but I wouldn't be suprised. She works with Cole Haan and Women's Athletic Training. WAT makes Nike at least 30x more a year then tennis by the way..
