Greatest sounds in the world.

During a match, getting a 30 ball rally with plenty of POP and finishing off with the sound of hitting a backhand winner and having 4 strings break.

The crack of your own serve. Gets me every time. Especially one that kicks.

The snipping of hair. No more bangs and I get a "tasty" sound from the barber's scissors.

Squishy noises from keyboards. Like from the really old IBM keyboards.

Assorted, high volume cheering noise. I love atmosphere in anything I do/see; tennis, piano performances, orchestra concerts, football games.

Last but not least, the super loud "pop" you hear off of a return. Makes me feel I made the best return in the history of tennis (in reality, far from it).

The greatest sound I have ever heard is the bark of a dog/pup. It's a sound that gives me indescribably joy even at 2 am. Other related sounds are a dog's "arf" and "grrr".

...

A woman moaning.

...

Do you mean like "When are you going to do the gardening?" or, "Why do you have to get so drunk with your friends?" or something else?

Coming up to 39 and married for over 14 years and that's the kind of woman moaning action I get sadly.

The sound of a can of tennis balls being opened.

An Aston Martin V-12 being revved up

The clank of the ball against the chain link after hitting an ace

The thwack of a perfectly struck forehand return

The sound of my dog's tags clinking together as she runs towards the door to greet me when I get home everyday.

This is a great song that I love, and it is very intelligent and poetic. The song uses the imagery of light and darkness to show how people's ignorance and apathy destroys their ability to communicate even on simple levels.

Its theme is man's inability to communicate with man. The author sees the extent of communication as it is on only its most superficial and "commercial" level (of which the "neon sign" is representative). There is no serious understanding because there is no serious communication - "people talking without speaking - hearing without listening". No one dares take the risk of reaching out ("take my arms that I might reach you") to disturb the sound of silence. The poet's (character in the song) attempts are equally futile (" . . . but my words like silent raindrops fell within the wells of silence").

The ending is an enigma. The words tell us that when meaningful communication fails, the only sound is silence.
