Milos Raonic recovering from successful hip surgery

Clarky, do you spend your whole waking life running around to different threads trying to find places where you can prove how stupid you are when it comes to Nadal? Milos won't take out Nadal. His serve will give Rafa a bit of trouble as it does every other opponent but that's about it. Rafa in straights. And I'm a big fan of Raonic.

Likewise... Nadal has been randomly pushed by quite a few random opponents, even beaten. Comes to mind most is Grigor pushing Nadal to 3 at Rotterdam a few years back. Sure the circumstances are much different with Raonic lacking match play, but to easily dismiss this as a straight set Nadal win is silly. So don't call other posters stupid and then post silly things right after. Thanks.

Can you still serve Huge after your hips have been reconstructed like that ? and he could have major issues with Core strength from the hips.

He served pretty well in his match yesterday. I'm sure he will be able to bomb down aces just like before once he has some time to get back into form.

Oh good grief. The stupidity is rampant. You're going back to a match from 2009 to try to make a specious point?

We don't really know what was done to his hips. "Reconstructed" might be much too much.
It might have been just a local cleanup.
And even if it's reconstruction, it depends on the extent.

There has never been any indication that his hip was reconstructed...in fact what exsctly was done is not known. In his 1st tokyo match he hit 16 serves so I guess there is still power there.

No, I said it's the match that came to mind the most. Young upstart who can challenge Nadal. I could bring up various examples of Nadal getting beat or pushed by players like the Kazakh guy from the USO this year. Is this one a better example then?

R32 Paolo Lorenzi (ITA) 148 W 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-0

If you knew anything about Nadal you would know that he struggles big time with big servers due to his lousy court positioning on the return. Like it or not Milos is going to trouble him just based on that alone. Not to mention his own serve is in the gutter right now. Nadal himself has said multiple times that he hates playing big servers, and that they give him no rhythm. I guess you know more about Nadal than Nadal himself.

LOL....you're so immature. But fun to read because of it!

What I would like to see from this match is that Raonic puts up a decent and is pleased with his play.

That would be a very positive thing. A win is immaterial....and would be shocking!

I like Raonic, too, though (natch) I'll be rooting for Rafa to win in straights, lol. But it is genuinely nice to see a new face in the ranks of the talented.:)

I'm immature because I think Raonic is going to give Nadal a run for his money tonight? I guess my immaturity also makes everything I said about big servers giving Nadal trouble false even though Nadal himself has said the same thing. You're such ridiculous ****,but fun to read because of it!

Nadal dropped 11 points on serve and did not face a break point to beat World No. 30 Milos Raonic of Canada 7-5, 6-3 in just over 90 minutes

Good match for the present stage for Raonic.
Great serving, except at critical times.
He now has some very clear directions to follow on his shots and movement.

Milos repeatedly put himself in good position to finish or set up the finish, only to make an error, mostly into the net.

I'm guessing with some more match play, those shots start hitting and he'll win a bunch of matches.

Serve looked awesome as usual and some good net play as well. Overall looked encouraging.

In Shanghai

Needs to get first through Llodra, who's gonna be different, so ...

Then it's Ferrer ... tough ... well Raonic needs to start moving, so ...

Milos beat Llodra at the Australian Open, didn't he?

Right:

2011 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Monte Carlo
Monaco Clay R64 winner: Raonic, Milos
6-3, 0-6, 6-0 Stats

2011 Australian Open
Australia Hard R64 winner: Raonic, Milos
7-6(3), 6-3, 7-6(4) Stats

Raonic needs to be sharp with Llodra.

They're both wearing exactly the same outfit. Good thing there's a substantial size difference so it's relatively easy to tell them apart.

Very solid win for Milos over Llodra, could have finished the third before the tiebreak but still recovered well to take this tough match in a 3d set tiebreak.

Was a pretty good quality match IMO.

Yes, good match, many touch shots from both sides.
First good match for Raonic since his coming back.
Great to see him moving all over the place.

Your eyes are better than mine if you can see their shoes! :D

Pretty dull match so far.

You can't see their shoes? What sort of microscpic stream were you watching? BTW Raonic wore big blue shoes. Llodra.s were non-descript.

I really don't know what you wre watching because the match was quite high quality.

Shanghai 2nd round

OK,

Ferrer - Raonic
is again on grand stand (which means on streams)
the 2nd match this time
Not before 3AM EST

Let's see if he can get under Ferrer's skin better than last time, in the Australian :)

Tbh, I don't favor Milos' chances against Ferrer. It's the scrappy guys that can get everything that seem to really bother him. Milos' movement wasn't ever a strong point of his game and him coming back from a pretty long layoff with only a few matches under his belt doesn't help his cause.

It's just bad luck that he got stuck with Ferrer, he probably would've beaten or at the very least, have somewhat of a decent chance, against any other of the top 10 seeds. (excluding Rafa or Muz)

First set against Ferrer at the AO Milos played him extremely well to take that set. I think he also played well in a tough 2nd set, but Ferrer kinda took over after that. Don't remember 100%, but in a best of 3 he can do it.
