NO CHANCE Murray can win with the roof closed.. It will be target practice for the aggressor here. Murray wants to hug the baseline all game and is afraid to even attack the net.. Something he will desperately need to do with a closed roof

Don't worry man, Murray will try his best to save Pete's legacy :).

Seriously, Murray can play pretty well indoors, I'm not convinced he likes slower conditions at all, his breakthrough tournament was in 2008 Cincy which is one of the fastest tournaments on tour.

The only weakness Federer has is his movement with his bad back, I really don't see how a defensive player like Murray can exploit that weakness and I think Federer will win.

I don't think Fed/Murray are concern about the roof, but their preparation for the match. For Fed, he wants to make sure that his back doesn't bother him. The way it's been played out throughout this tourney, closing the roof would be more favorable to Murray since the crowd can give Murray a boost of energy.

OP: Did you happen to catch the indoor Asian swing the past few years? Murray won back to back in Shanghai with straight sets over Federer and Ferrer and 2011 in Tokyo he demolished Nadal in the final with a bagal third set (also won in Valencia, Thailand)

Murray is an indoor killer man. This shouldn't be viewed as a negative in my opinion.

Federer and Murray are 2-2 in indoor matches, all played on hard court.

Federer beat Murray at 2009 & 2010 WTF (O2,London).
Murray beat Federer at 2008 Madrid (then indoor HC) and 2008 WTF (Shanghai).

All their 15 previous matches have been played on hard court. Amazingly, tomorrow will be their first ever encounter on grass!

Closed roof favors Fed because the court tends to be a tad more slippery and lower bouncing. You could clearly see that the conditions affected Djokovic's movement. So these conditions favor Fed over all of Djokovic, Nadal and Murray.

The roof makes absolutely no difference, both are good enough to adapt to any conditions. It will come down to execution as it always does.

Of course it makes a difference. Did you not see Djokovic slipping and struggling with his footing? The conditions created by the closed roof are detrimental to retrievers/grinders chasing balls down. They definitely favor a more "first strike" attacking style of play.

Agree, this will give roger a bit of an advantage but andy plays aggressive baseline game with big serves so it won't matter as much as people think it might.

That's the point, there have been complaints that when the roof is closed the ball is much heavier/slower.

Murray will either lose the match extremely meekly, or blow a big lead.

Either way, it is unfathomable that Federer loses this match.

tank, just watch roger's matches and see how badly he is moving and how much he is mindful of his back. He is Toast, and that back is gonna give out as time.

So? Murray has plenty of practice playing indoors on grass.
These pre-mature threads one way or the other are so nonsensical.

Hmmm, I think either could win or lose regardless but it might help Federer a wee bit if he brings his A-game and wants to maintain it throughout a long match.

As was pointed out, Murray has great results indoors and is actually playing a lot less of a pusher game than he does normally. The roof will help his serve. He's not Nadal who keeps getting pushed back as the point goes on, so I don't think the roof will be a factor.
