TW Review: New Wilson Blade Racquets

I think the new Blade 93 plays more like the KBlade Tour, in that it has a more generous sweetspot compared to the BLX version. I think the feel is improved over both, but especially the BLX.

In regards to the Diablo Mid, I posted this elsewhere:

The Diablo Mid has more of a classic box beam feel to it -- think POG, PS 85 etc. The Blade 93 does not have that same box beam solidness, but it feels faster, snappier and more responsive.

The Diablo Mid has a livelier stringbed, but both offer about equally forgiving sweetspots. I would say the Diablo is a little more topspin friendly, the Blade 93 more precise and a slightly better slice racquet. Both a great sticks and the differences are not that major when it comes to what I can do with the ball when playing with either.

In regards to the PB10 Mid, the feel is very different. The PB10 is much softer feeling and it also feels a bit faster through contact for me.

The Blade 93 kind of bridges the gap between the PB10 Mid and the Prestige Mid. It offers the feel and control of the 18x20 string pattern, but has a slightly livelier feeling frame and like the PB10 Mid, is not quite as demanding.

Hope that helps,
Chris, TW

New Racket?

I'm thinking of getting either the new blade 98(18x20) or the new aeropro drive in the next couple of weeks, and wanted to know which one you guys would recommend. I'm looking for more stability, plow through, control, and just a general improvement over my 9.9oz beginners racquet (which is way too light).

I have a eastern/semi western grip on my forehand and have a one handed backhand, and I also come to net quite often. I would rate myself at around 3.0-3.5. I love the cosmetic of the blade 98, but would happily buy the aeropro if you guys suggest it.

I want the racquet to last me around 2 years as well, so I want a racquet that will be usable as I develop.

Thanks :)
