Tsonga injured and pulls out of Sydney. Haas got thrashed by Novak 6-2 6-0. Did he withdraw from the doubles, I see the match up on Wiki in the mixed doubles, Haas is replaced by the Australian guy again. (the one who replaced Isner)

What's this with injuries for everyone? Tsonga, Isner, Petkovic, Azarenka, Sharapova (well she's practising in the AO already so she's probably fine)

It's the week before a Grand Slam and people feel fresh enough..?

Not so much an increase in injuries, just the tolerance for playing on is much lower given it's the beginning of the year and right before a GS event

And he ninjas the second as well, exactly the same way. Two break points taken by Rich, both to win the sets. Lethal.

Davy's back in playstation mode! I haven't seen Ferrer struggle this hard from the baseline since his RG encounter with the Nadal.

Ironically David's serve is keeping him in this match.

Kolja is taking his time away and pushing him behind the baseline.

That said, I still see David winning this, Kolja can play great tennis these days for one set at most.

Exactly, it's his trademark game when he's on fire. It's amazing to watch how he sometimes just runs diagonally to take the ball even earlier.

But as you said, this is far from over, if his level drops Ferrer will be ready to stage his comeback. I'm rooting for Davy though.

Davai Kolja! He's been serving well today, hopefully one break will be enough to seal the deal.

Same here mate.

I'd like him to win today and then beat Gasquet in the final to take the title as well.

MP for playstation!

Taught the world #5 a tennis lesson, not bad Kolja, not bad.

Man, I'd like to see a resurgence from Kolja this year.

What a way to finish it, looks like we were wrong to worry! Ferrer didn't look happy :)

Looking forward to the final, Gasquet actually leads the h2h, but Davy is the favourite after his QF and SF performance.

I would say Davy's the favourite considering his amazing performances in the QF and SF, plus his good records in Doha. Would you say he's a dangerous floater in the AO?

I wouldn't write him off, you never know with Davydenko these days even though he won their last match in Rotterdam last year.

I like Ritchie but I hope Kolja rips him a new one in the final.

Even so, it's a new year, first event and i'ts the final, he's too motivated not to play well, also AO is very soon.

When i watch gasquet i always wonder why he doesn't play flatter, at least in his improving forehand that's still quite shabby. Grosjean had a very good forehand so probably he's getting taught right.

Kudos for Kolya! Has to be his best tennis in three plus years. 30+ tennis flourishes and makes him a very tough out in Melbourne.

I think it remains to be seen how he will fare in best of 5 matches these days.
We've just seen how he can still turn it on for best of 3 matches when the mood takes him but Slams are a different matter. But If he can continue the form he just showed today, he will certainly be one to watch IMO.

Birdsh!t double faults and gives Bautista-Agut a chance to serve out the match. Apparently it's his first match against a top 10 player!

Berdych missing like the 4th FH and 2 MPs.

LOL I see his 'not-bad' face at the handshake again.

Tipsy will probably take the Chennai title now. Don't see anyone else stopping him.

A final between Davydenko and Gasquet?! I would love to see any of them win a title. Great when this happens, now I'll be happy no matter who wins and I can just enjoy the match without rooting for someone.

EDIT: And Berdych lost as well?? What is happening here? Is the top 10 declining because of age or is this just a pre-Grand Slam dip?

I'm off to the ASB Classic final today. Looking forward to seeing Julia Goerges in the doubles.

She playing my country mate Cara Black and Rodionova in the final. After a two year sabatical and first tournament final, not bad.

Davy/Gasquet final should be great! Everyone is talking about Davy's amazing form (and he sure is on) but Gasquet has been playing some impressive tennis as well.

Should be a good final.

Anyone watching Dimitrov-Baghdatis right now? I know most of you are rooting for Dimitrov but I've got a soft spot for Baggy so I hope he wins.

Dimitrov playing on a higher level to be honest. This guy can go places. I also don't think the resemblance to Federer's technique is that huge. They both look smooth playing but that's really it.
