What's up with nadal's legs?

this was taken from a practice yesterday (1/30/13). Is it me or are they ridiculously skinny? he doesn't look very fit

Nadal's legs have little to do with winning RolandGarros. Nadal beat Djokovic in the final of RolandGarros2012, including holding 71 of 72 service games, practically on one leg. And the best Djokovic could muster was taking a set off of Nadal in the worst playing conditions in world history. Nadal can win RolandGarros no matter what his legs look like. RolandGarros2013 is shaping up to be the most exciting slam of 2013. :p

Did you also seem him running as fast as ever using only one leg? Which one was it that he jumped around on, slided and turned for the entire tournament - without ever letting the other foot as much as touch the ground?
He's a hero indeed...

People, please ignore Bullzilla and his multiple personalities. By responding to him, you allow him to take over an entire thread, and give him exactly what he wants.

Someone should dig up a similar shot from before his latest injury for comparison.

There's a photo of him at the airport on some thread or another, and he looks bulky and strong in his street clothes.

SORRY! not sure why they didnt post, go here and check the fifth picture over

Damn! His quads look small. Must finally be clean.

could you share? it could have just been the angle of the photo as to why his leg looked so small

When will you people stop judging fitness levels, while looking at pictures on the Interwebz?

His legs are as strong as ever.

Cannot comment on his knees, though.

From what I have heard, he cannot either.

I don't see that happening this year. i wouldn't be surprise if one of the big hitters like Raonic knocks him off in like the 4th round.

His quads look surprisingly underdeveloped.
Do any of you creepy Nadal stalkers know if he always looked like that? Maybe I should ask that in Nadal News thread...

dude, calling 'em creepy and posting a question in that thread will surely result in a deluge of flaming insults :)

I tried to find a similar photo from an earlier time but couldn't find much. This shows the same part of the leg, but all bent and flexed so not a great comparison.

Nadal looking small, will still win Vina del Mar.....but seriously, he is looking TINY. Even Djokovic has way more developed and thicker legs than that. Rafa's legs used to be like tree trunks, I'm sure he won't be nearly as explosive as he was before judging from that picture.

Well actually only his quads look tiny. Rest of the leg is fine. Maybe his quads are not used so much for tennis.

I think some of you are exaggerating where the legs are concerned.

This is Nadal at the beach a couple of years ago.

Pardon the big pic:

Where exactly were these HUGE legs of Nadal's? In the second pic especially, he has pretty tight fitting shorts and yet they still hang a bit loose around his legs.

Agreed. Nadal is not deteriorating. He is probably in great physical shape considering he has been posting pictures of himself working out for the past 6 months. Lets see how his tennis has held up after 6 months off.

Do you know that Agassi and Federer finally won RG and completed the Career Slam the year they both reached their fifth RG SF? Guess how many RG SF Djokovic has? Four and this year it is very likely Djokovic will reach his fifth RG SF. Maybe Djokovic wins his RG title the year he reaches his fifth RG SF like Agassi in 1999 and Federer in 2009. Both were odd years like 2013... Nadal's only loss at RG was in an odd year, 2009. Hmmm.

This thread defines Talk Tennis perfectly. The thread begins with criticism of Nadal's LEG. It seeks to establish that Nadal's LEG has changed and is now weak. It concludes that Nadal's leg is identical right now to 2012 and 2010. Genius.

these pictures show nadal's leg from rome 2012. even though his quads are more defined because the legs are extended on the run, are tan, and presumably more conditioned, i dont think they're any bigger than the OP's picture.

They dont look the same. Obviously he has lost some weight which makes sense. Putting less pressure on the legs.

Anyway, those pictures, if they were taken yesterday, show he has lost some beef.

Forget the legs.. Nadal looks like he has lost probably 30-40 pounds of muscle through his entire body since 2007-2009..

Dude is SMALL compared to what he used to be

Maybe that's why he doesn't want to wear sleeveless. Delpo look isn't good.

30-40 lbs of muscle... LOL. Do you realize how stupid that statement is? Nadal would look scrawnier than Simon if that was the case.

TW stupidity at its finest.

30-40 lbs would amount to about almost 14 kg of MUSCLE MASS. Those that actually work out know how hard it is to put on that amount of muscle so if Nadal actually had 13 more kg of muscle mass about 6-7 years ago then it would really show nowadays. Heck, if you lose just a couple of pounds in muscle mass you already start to look deflated when compared to your old self.

Here's an actual difference of about 15 pounds of muscle mass between 2 people, with both guys being around 10% body fat, according the website I got this from.

He looked quite bulky when he won the first Wimbledon against Fed. I was looking at the recording the other day and thought it would do his legs some good if he did lose some of that bulk. I mean Fed is very thin and so is Djokovic (even if it is all muscle)

It was a wise choice to lose all that weight, as he ended up winning 3 slams in 2010, and making 5 slam finals in a row from 2011-12.
