I predict these 3 upsets: Tulsa over Oklahoma 5-2, Wake over Tennessee 5-2 and TCU over Tulsa 4-3.
Hi Top Dawg; Between these where would you go if you were a recruited player and why. Tell me what you know.
Tulsa
OK
Mississippi State
TCU
Pepperdine
Auburn
Although I'm not being asked, I can say having been to OK, Tulsa and Miss. St. that OK and Tulsa have facilities about as good as it gets. Stadium and Grandstand 12 court outdoor facility and both have 6 indoor tennis courts with grandstand seating above overlooking all courts. Miss. St. has a nice outdoor facility not sure what they have for indoors, I've heard 2 cts. Weather in Starkville is mild for the most part. Auburn I hear has great facilities. School wise I don't see how any kid could go wrong at any of the above. There's alot more to go through like rural vs. city setting, cost, academic specialties, etc. Really depend what a kid wants out of school and tennis.
I've been to Miss State, Tulsa, Auburn, and Pepperdine.
- Tulsa - very nice indoor/outdoor facility - one of the Top 2 or 3. Campus isn't huge but it's laid out nicely. I think enrollment is under 5000 if I'm not mistaken. It gets real windy out there in Tulsa so playing outdoors can be a challenge at times. They've only made it to the final 16 a few times so a tradition of good teams just not great ones.
- OK - program on the rise since John Roddick got there. Nice indoor and outdoor facility. Never been to Norman so don't know much about the area.
- Mississippi State - nice outdoor facility; indoor facility has just the 2 courts. They've got 4 freshmen on the team this year so playing time would be tough for a few years. They've gotten much more competitive in these last few years after being down for a while. Very rural setting.
- TCU - big city in Dallas/Ft Worth. I think their outdoor facility has 20 or more courts. Just joined the Big 12 though near the bottom of the pack. Playing time would be easier to come by though they won't be winning the conference anytime soon.
- Pepperdine - you can't beat the scenery out there. Big city living, great education, beach at the bottom of the hill. Nice outdoor facility. Whole team is either a junior or senior so spots will be open. Good tradition of winning conference titles and usually in the mix for a National Title every 5 years or so.
- Auburn - nice indoor and outdoor facility. Right off the interstate about 90 minutes from Atlanta. Decent sized school with about 20000 students but it doesn't feel too big. Weather stays good just about year round. Not going to compete for a National Title or Conference Title anytime soon but usually good for the occasional appearance in the Final 16.
If it was me, and all things were equal I'd be in Malibu at Pepperdine. If not there then Auburn, Oklahoma, Tulsa, TCU, and Miss State in that order. But that's just me.
Looks like GT isnt even bothering with this live scoring nonense. I wouldn't either with that team who barely beat Lipscomb.
Too bad Tennessee didn't have Chaplin for singles; he could have been the difference. Putting Patrick in at 6 all but guaranteed a loss plus it meant Jones and Collins had to play above their comfort zone.
Oklahoma with a really impressive result tonight against Tulsa. 4 lopsided singles wins at 2, 4, 5, & 6.
Stanford may have lost 7-0 to UCLA but held its own on every court with Kandath being the exception.

Cunha and Mengel both not playing for Duke. Hemmeler stepped it up and won 6-1 6-3 over Stefan at 3. Michigan got 1st sets at 1, 5, and 6. Duke 2, 3, and 4.
I think FSU will take down Florida. I guess Christian Gonzalez-Mendez has been squeezed out of the top 6.
