some good setups?

I'm trying to find the best, and cheapest string setup. My main priorities are: spin, control, and durability... Also, I don't want to pay more than $10 per set, so I guess that leaves me with either poly or synthetic gut strings.

So what would you guys recommend? I'm don't really care if they're full beds, or hybrids... as long as they're cheap :p

If you consider reels, then BHBR x Isospeed BL Spin. $90 + $40 = 30+ racquets at around $4 each. Great feel, solid power when needed and awesome spin.

Sometimes, being cheap is not the way to go... including tennis strings..

For which racquet and what kind of strokes, spins or flat hitter, what's your swing speed like, what style do you play, and do you prefer syn gut or poly?

I hit with topspin. I swing fast. I play mostly on the baseline, but I'll come to net to finish a point. And I like polys, but I wouldn't mind trying it in a hybrid.

Okay, sorry for the triple post, but I forgot to answer your racquet question...
I normally use a Pure Drive, but right now I'm in the process of switching. I'm currently demoing the Blade 98 (18x20).

Blade 98 - full syn gut or Volkl Cyclone crossed with syngut.

It matters your level of play. If you are below 4.5 stroke-wise, just use full syn gut. the poly will hinder you.

Yeah, I'd say I'm at around 4.5.
Cyclone's only $8, so I'll probably try that. Is there a certain syngut you'd recommend?

Thanks for the suggestions everyone...

btw, does anyone have any experience with Signum Pro Poly Speed Spin? Not much has been said about it here, and it's only $5.90...

Id suggest in order of cripsness these crosses - Prince original syn gut, OG sheep Micro, Forten Sweet.

All are great.

I hated Cyclone in a full job. The hybrid will give you good control and its a heck of a string for $7. Anyone who thinks all the best string setups are expensive doesn't know what they are talking about.

well... let's just say I can't afford to be stringing my racquets with RPM Blast every time, let alone natural gut.

Um... I don't play with any of that. Also, not all of the high-end brands are good anyways.

You know you can have better searches with going on the TW site and search strings, then select your budget price.

Be careful though, don't try and play with the 'budget gut' strings.

There are some good selections already noted on here.

Weiss Cannon Silverstring & Wilson Extreme syn gut hybrid.

Combined cost is $14.40... which will get you two restrings @ $7.20 each. It's a good balance of spin, tension maintenance and control. Silverstring is one of the better polys imo for someone who does a lot of volleying.

I can report that Weisscannon Scorpion 1.22 with Babolat N.vy 1.30mm crosses is excellent.

Silverstring 1.25 with N.vy crosses would, I believe be just as good.

In my Dunlop 200 lite at 53 lbs.

I would say BHB7 would be a cheap and spiny option to consider. But do try to string it low in a 18/20 pattern, go and try it like 47/8 pounds and u will feel the bite with control. Restring often is the key.
