NBA 2012-2013 Discussion, keep it classy

Local media reporting that Gallo heard a pop and that he believes it's a torn ACL.

Awful. :cry::cry:

Well a "pop" could be a lot of things. Meniscus for instance, so I won't look into that. What would concern me is that initial examinations revealed a "loose" ACL.

I'm not sure how much give the ACL has, but assuming it's a ligament and if it's noticeably loose, then it's not really there anymore, but torn.

Gallinari is scheduled for an MRI on Friday after leaving Thursday night’s game against the Dallas Mavericks late in the second quarter with a left knee injury.

“I’ve had some that look bad but turn out to be okay,” Nuggets coach George Karl said. “Nene a couple of years ago went down and everyone thought it was an ACL, but it was just a sprain.

So many late-season injuries throughout the association...I'm wondering if it's a delayed hangover from the shortened '11-'12 schedule???

Injuries happen every season. What do you expect, every player to play 82 games without nicks and pains? Your point really doesn't make sense. :?

Big respect and best wishes to Gallo in his recovery. Has played a huge role in the rebirth of this team.

Amen to that! Karl will push the right buttons to get them over this...tonight was a prime example, using his very deep bench to go for 132 in a rout of the Rockets; seven guys in double figures with AI scoring 18, dishing 14 and boarding for 7.

Anyone think the Nuggets can still make a splash without Danilo? Kenneth Faried, McGee, AI, Andre Miller, and of course Mr. UNC himself seem like a legitimate squad. But they essentially lost 15 PPG and a 6' 10" shooting guard that's proven himself to be clutch.

Brewer and the French kid, Fournier, are stepping up so far. Maybe with fresher legs, they can be difference makers. The West is stacked so it won't be easy, even in Round 1 but they are phenomenal at home and won't be an easy out if they get to Round 2 and beyond. I can see a Game 7 scenario vs a 2-seed. If that's OKC, I'll take Karl over Brooks on the bench. Pops and Karl...that's a wash.

lakers look like they may miss the playoffs. at the very least they have a dogfight for the right to get blown out by san antonio or ok city.

I'm personally hopeful but not very optimistic about more than a first round victory.

Even though Lawson is probably more valuable than Gallo and Gallo's defense/rebounding is occasionally sketchy for such a tall dude, Gallo's offensive skills are formidable. As you point out, the number of huge shots this guy has hit for the team in his short stint is amazing. He can get his own shots, runs the floor, is fast as well as strong and can hit from the outside.

That said, I'm not sure the Nuggets make it even to the conference finals this year even with Gallo. It's just extremely hard for the road team in the playoffs. Upsets happen, which is part of why we watch, but would you really pick Nuggs over Spurs or OKC in a game 7 on the Spurs/OKC court? Maybe if Parker/Ginobli are both injured!

lol. i think he used to play for the pacers before he was convicted of gang related activities on a basketball court. no one has seen mr. artest since 2009 though so he could be anywhere now.

fine. mwp is their best PERIMETER defender. howard can and should every night of the week and twice on sunday be their best defender period but he's either hurt or disinterested or both. so some nights he looks like he's superman. and other times he's just clark kent and pulls down 4 boards.

stevie blake pulled down 6 boards for reference.

You have my deepest sympathies.

Years of hoping that the trio of Melo, JR and Kmart might actually do something big always ended in frustration.

Not only will Melo not get the MVP, but the NY Knuggets will be lucky to win two rounds in the playoffs.

He deserves it most for carrying the team. Lebron has Bosh/Wade and KD has Westbrook/Ibaka. Even CP3 has Griffin plus the deepest bench in the league. Melo's offensive help is JR, who's mad inconsistent, and Felton. We'll beat Boston and Indiana/Atlanta if we keep up the same playing level we have over the last 12 games. We'll find out Thurs against the Bulls. We can beat the Heat in 7 games, we need to get the ball movement and 3 ball going again, none of this iso felton/melo/jr crap

Ummm, good luck with this. Please don't bet anything too valuable.

Melo also carried the Nuggets into the playoffs for, what, 8 years? No wing man. No MVP. No rings.

Only thing that is different is the bigger market.

I'm sure the Nuggets really miss Carmelo's 25 shot attempts a game. He got them to the post-season, but it wasn't until he averaged under 20 points per game in a season - '07-'08, I believe - that they got past the first round. Now they have two players with championship experience in Chandler and Kidd and they have as good a shot as ever to make noise. Unfortunately, they'll probably lose to Indiana or Miami.

Lakers better not blow this opportunity to get ahead of the Utah Jazz (again).

It's the Hornets, come on man...

They didn't blow it but staying ahead of Utah...that's a bit tougher. Apparently, the Lakers haven't swept a back-to-back this season and travel to Portland tonight. Then they face three playoff teams to close while Utah does a home/away with the T-Wolves before ending with Memphis. Tiebreaker goes to the Jazz.

How are the Knicks going to beat the heat when the heat limit melo? The Knicks consist of a team of individuals. Miami is a team. JR and melo won't do what's best for the team. They won't limit themselves to give other players shots. Unlike the heat. As for melo for MVP, laughable. Lebron will be MVP. Best player in the league and best defensive player. Lebron makes his teammates better. Melo scores but does not elevate the performance of his teammates. Lebron is better in every aspect of the game than melo.

Knicks have the size and I'll even argue that they have a deeper and more versatile bench.

I'm not saying Knicks will win the series against the Heat, but anytime you have size against the Heat, then you have a chance.

I just saw the James dunk from last night, where Ellis blocked the lane to Miller, so he decided to assist himself off the backboard :)

I know he can rub people up the wrong way, but he provides some amazing highlights!

He rubbed people the wrong way once, and that was the way he handled his free agency. Aside from that, I find him to be professional.

I do too, you hear stories like where he got the team to sign autographs and take pictures with fans whilst waiting to catch a plane. You can understand why people in Cleveland might hold a grudge :) but personally, i've been impressed with what he's done off the court the last few years.

Miami bench: Allen, battier, miller, birdman, cole, jones(one of the leagues best shooters, barely plays the team is so deep)

Knicks bench:jr, Novak, Kidd, Camby (leadership)
I think miami has the edge bench wise. Knicks may have some size with chandler and amare but neither are as dominant as they were. Chandler is more of a defensive presence anyways. Indiana may be their toughest test, if they play.

Should have seen Lebron in HS. Mythic even 10 yrs later

NY will break down in the playoffs. Their 'experience' is leaning more towards 'age' lately.

How bout that Kobe guy?

You mean Mr. Timeless himself, playing heavy minutes with numerous of injuries without complaining about it? I wonder what would happen if Rafael Nadal and Kobe Byrant sat down, and had a conversation...

His stamina is just remarkable. If his teammates haven't fail him this season, he should be in the MVP discussion.

The Magic bag their 20th win in OT vs playoff-bound, soon to be swept by the Heat, Milwaukee. Most notable twin stat lines...Harris and Vukevic went 30/19 and 30/20 in the win!

Stop being stupid. Kobe plays ZERO defense. None. Michael Jordan at 34 was still a top 5 defender in the entire league. Kobe is well below average on the defensive end.

Kobe is the epitome of a stat padder.

nadal would spend his offtime in Germany getting questionable knee surgery/cell therpay or whatever the heck they call it.

And by MVP Discussion do you you mean the discussion for 2d place. Becuase LeBron is by far the MVP. He is just so much better than evryone right now. Plaus the win streak and all that. He should be unamious MVP but some writer somewhere will give the local guy a vote.

Also Magic just said he feels the Lakers beat the Spurs if thats the matchup in 1st round.

I said like a month ago that Lakers would be a tough 1st round opponet for a 1seed. Especially SA.

Well we all know Magic's a LA homer big time. I still think LA is a flawed team. It's one thing to do this against Portland and New Orleans, another to do it against a team as legit as San Antonio. They will expend so much energy just getting to the playoffs that I wouldn't be surprised if they got swept 1st Round.

but Pau is looking healthy and Dwight is looking better as well.

We know chemically enhanced Kobe will be good to go.

LA has size and I think they matchup very well with SA.

SA will not get the one seed so we wont get to see it happen.

OKC can beat LA because of sheer athleticism, but SA cant.

SA is much better off playing the rockets.

Plus every call in an SA LA series will go LAs way especially if a 2d round matchup with the clippers in play. The NBA wont miss the chance at that cash cow of a series.

Sure, 3 steals and 4 blocked shots isn't defense, alright man. And I never compared him to Michael Jordan, nice try in picking a fight.

Please let the Pacers get knocked out early, such a boring team to watch.
I want to see run and gun so go Clippers, OKC, Knicks, Heat.
