Tennis Bag

What's the ideal tennis bag (6 pack or 9 pack) for a mildly competitive player who plays 10-12 hours a week with two racquets, water bottles, hats, towels, clothes, tennis balls, and wristbands (+phone, wallet, etc)?

I prefer Babolat because of my sticks, but other brands are fine too.

I have a three pack and a backpack that holds two rackets. I never thought I would consider a larger bag, but I'm finding that perhaps a six pack may be ideal for me. I don;t play as miuch as you, but I break strings quite a bit so I like to have three rackets with me for matches. Once I cram three rackets into my larger bag, though, there's not much room for anything else, especially when I throw in tennis ball cans. I have been looking at the Prince bags (my racket brand) but would use another brand if bag if the price was less,

I traditionally just use a large duffel bag. I am probably going to get a waterproof duffel this year as I drive a jeep and get caught in the rain occasionaly. Last year I was caught in a couple of downpoors and swore I was staying away from tennis bags from now on.

You might need a 6 pack bag now but need a 9 pack if you carry tennis shoes. You might also consider climate control to protect your rackets depending on the place you live.

If you plan on storing a full clothing set and towels you really should look for a 9/10. That bag is ideal if you want to shower afterwards. If not and you don't want to drag along a big bag, look for a 6. My sister bought me a 10 which is way too big, but better too big than to small.

If you play on dirty surfaces you should look for a bag with a shoe compartment/bag. That will keep your clothes and towels clean.

The babolat aero line is very nice!

I use the North Face duffel....made of rubberized "raft-like". The Large is just the right length for rackets.

a six pack bag has been more than enough for me. I actually own the pacific basalt xl thermal bag that has one compartment for the three tennis racquets, and instead of just having another large compartment like most 6 pack bags. This bag has that space allocated into three smaller compartments, perfect for shoes, balls, and extra gear.

When I did attend tournaments, I carried a smaller cooler bag to carry drinks and bananas with me to the courts.

so, a six pack bag is great and doesn't get super bulky and you can always use another bag if 6 isn't enough.

6-pack is my preferred size. I use a Yonex Pro Series and it's held up well.

more like a golf bag...

I too am looking for a new bag (presently have a Pacific backpack but I need something bigger).... I don't want to hijack this thread but don't want to start a new one as the OP and I may have similar needs...

Slightly off topic.. I am a Golfer also and I find that Golf bags are simply better designed and built than many Tennis bags. One can pay $200+ for a Golf bag but a ~$75 Golf bag will include a pop out stand, backpack style sling shoulder straps, insulated water bottle pocket (a cooler sleeve in some cases), valuables pocket (wallet, watch, keys, phone..), rain hood, full length dividers, umbrella sleeve, multiple pockets for balls + accessories, pockets for rain gear... And the bag is designed to be carried or bounce around on a cart for several hundred rounds of golf. A similarly priced Tennis bag doesn't even come close in features and quality of construction.

Back on topic... I'm looking for a Tennis bag with similar features... Ideally:

4~6 Racquets
separate water bottle pocket, preferably insulated
valuables pocket
vented shoe pocket
vented wet items/laundry pocket
compartments with enough room for a warm up suit, jacket, towels, and several cans of balls
Accessory pockets for hats, sunglasses, sweat bands, knee braces... strings, grips, vibration dampeners...
Hooks for hanging on a fence (like baseball bat bags)
Compartment for a folder/folio (for match lineups, notebook,...)

Most Tennis bags seem to be just big duffel bags with a couple of racquet compartments. I really don't like throwing my stuff in a big mashed up pile.

I do. I like one zipper not 12. Also, i agree that tennis bags are built like crap
cheap chinese garbage (i'm talking the product, not those that build the crap).

Sounds like you need a file cabinet of sorts.

I'd suggest the Djokovic moster combi with the golf stand.

Dividers (adjustable, removable) will work if you don't like zippers. I hate making my partner + opponents wait for me while I rummage through crap to retrieve a band aid.

+1 and +1.... A comment though, the Chinese factories/workers are just churning out what their customers (Head, Babolat, Wilson...) are specifying. The bags seem to be designed by their finest team of accountants.

yeah, i do have one mesh pocket in the lid and then i keep a couple small stuff sacks of different colors inside so i know what's in there if i need it. Otherwise the sticks, balls and towels are easy pickin'.
