Ok guys! Love that you all love the Pure Drive as much as me
Anyway, after a talk with Mr. Paul Reed, who is the best racquet customizer that I know and can do magical things on racquets, we decided for what I want, it was best to make the switch to the Pure Drive Roddick. So I'm patiently waiting to get have a free moment to do some spec work because I have hit with several different Roddicks and they have all felt slightly different, but I have the winning one sitting next to me right now. So the second I get the chance, I will be speccing my new sticks to match my now "favorite" racquet.
I needed more mass to add a bit of control and the PDR does that for me. The plowthrough is awesome and I can get the controlled power that I sometimes lacked with the PD in stock form. I am also happy to report that I have been able to take my tension down a few pounds (which is a great thing as I struggle with wrist injuries after tearing ligaments in college). Also, side note, I did try 4g in the PDR last week -- didn't love it, which was a bummer, I wanted to love it, but it was too lively for me. I'm a big fan of the dead feeling polys which match perfectly for me in the PDR!
I'm a bit of a newb in the customizing world, but long story short, to spec the Pure Drive to the what I wanted was going to take quite a bit of lead and removing grommets. I stubbornly had never wanted to make the switch to the Roddick because, to be honest, he was never my favorite player...to which Paul Reed responded, "I'll give you a sharpie and you can cross out his signature."
But I can see past this now as this racquet is right in my wheel house. I have replaced the grip with a leather replacement grip and will give you the details of the specs once I get it done (fingers crossed that will happen tomorrow)!
