Wilson Tennis Bags Are Crap!!

Every Wilson bag i've ever purchased has always started peeling on the shiny vinyl areas. Their bags are of such low quality. I've always insisted on having my bag and racquets match but i've gotten a Babolat bag and it is sooooo superior in construction and design. Even my Becker bag was better than the Wilson bags i've had.

True.
All Wilson bags I've seen in the past 2-3 years were made of relatively low quality materials. That's what cost cutting does, eventually you end up with a product that's basically garbage.

But there are better options out there.
I have 4 brand new Wilson racquets, along with a couple of green Prince bags (a 12 bag, and a backpack). Very happy with both. Well designed, made of solid, quality fabric. They don't match with the white-red racquets, but the quality is there.

I have a couple of their Tour bags. They seem fine in terms of durability. In fact, I took one around Europe last year and it stood up pretty well to the elements, being rained on, being sat on, being thrown around etc.

Yup, I agree. I've known this for a long time. I used to buy Wilson racquet bags but they always fell apart quickly and never lasted me longer than a single tennis season. So although I've continued to use Wilson racquets (which are not of very high quality either), for the past 7 or 8 years I used other brand's' bags. I've found Volkl and Dunlop bags to be of much higher quality and durability and both have lasted me many years of rough daily use.

I have wilson blx super 6 bag and its perfect. I have it for about 2 years now and there's not a single piece of vinyl that is coming off or tearing out. Looks like its brand new still.

It's a shame, because the older K-Factor bags were built like tanks. Also, I have a Babolat Aero 12pack and it's crap too. The only thing it had going for it was the double thermal and an portable insulated drink holder.

Otherwise, Babolat bags are crap too.

Call me overly cynical but I think there is zero to minimal input from the Wilson executives who sign off and approve the bag designs each product cycle. (e.g, the Category Manager for Bags and Accessories?). Happy to be corrected.

They merely license production to the lowest bidder with scant regard to quality. Sure, Wilson will give them the designs to work from but they probably don't give a damn about what rolls off the line, provided it comes in on-budget and on-time.

I attended a lavish wedding of a business acquaintance years ago. I was told the groom's parents were in the luggage game and held the soft-luggage licenses for many luxury brands. Somewhere in China is probably a whole town whose local economy is centred on being the racket bag OEM for every tennis brand.

I have the BLX club line bag and it definitely isn't crap. My old Babolat bag fell apart in less than a year. I've had this bag over a year now and it gets 10x the usage the Babolat did and it doesn't have so much as a stitch out of place.

I guess the extra $ went to go use then? But my 2011 (black/red) Federer Super 6 was utter crap. Two of those pockets were borderline unreachable and weren't even large enough for a phone.

OT, but I bought a Babolat club line bag 4 years ago and it's still in outstanding shape, except for some of the stuff I've spilled inside it. I use Prince Racquets.

I'd never even bother looking at another brand after my experience with them...they excedded my expectations. $40 well spent.

Wow thanks for the pictures! It's a nice looking bag but you're right about the two small pockets, my friend has the regular Wilson bag (the ones that the regular pros used) and those pockets are small. The floppy sides are a bit bad too.

Just got one of the tour bags that holds 15 rackets and man is it an awesome bag. Much higher quality than the prince bag I bought but it wasnt princes top of the line or anything so not a fair comparison.

Very sturdy and no squeaks like the prince which I thought was a great bag!

I think it really varies. I had a Wilson 12 pack bag that was given to me for college and I used it for like three years heavily. By the end, the zippers had seized up and there was a small fraying spot but all in all I thought it stood up very well.

Same thing with my Babolat aero 12 pack. A couple people in here don't like them but the quality so far for me has been outstanding. They have a ton of room, are built out of durable material, they look good, and they fit a ton. Plus the thermal racquet pocket or whatever.

Not to mention, I moved this week and I emptied out my bag and just stuffed it with racquets for the move. Ended up with 15 racquets in there (still not enough space for my random stick inventory :twisted: haha)

The new bags seem to take the design of Federer's Limited Edition bag he started using from '13 Wimbledon. I like that the logo is white instead of a metallic Silver that looks awkward compared to the white accents of the bag (aside from Fed's signature, which is silver too but not too flamboyant due to the thin font). And they also have two hardshell panels that actually add form to the bag.

But the old bags are cheap. If you don't like the new bags the older version is priced well ($50 for the 15 pack!).

The drawback is I don't want to use it unless the weather's perfect. Sometimes it's better wanting than having.

They had Milos carry that bag on court a few times, I believe it was last year at a few tournaments.
But no, he doesn't really use it on a regular basis. Last time I saw him he had a Wilson Tour.

All I can say is, if you're going to show up with that thing at the courts, you'd better have the game to back it up - like a 5.0 at least.
Otherwise you'll draw a lot of chuckling behind your back when you lose to some kid who shows up with a beat-up old racquet and a ball in his pocket.

And no one at the club I go to even cares about gear. No one has noticed it's leather which is good. I got the damn thing for me - I don't care if no one else remarks and there are no hotties to impress

I can't help thinking it's just another item sourced from a Chinese OEM, this time a leather soft luggage factory that churns out leather handbags for every middle-market brand in the world. It's not the Chinese-made I have an issue with, it's the quality of the leather and internals.

I don't abuse my bag or equipment, but I don't go out of my way to be careful with it. Just a lot of use over time and they break down, taking things out and putting them away etc. When I was on a team I was using it four days a week on campus for practice plus traveling weekends with it for matches. They just break down, get flimsy, the zippers can seize up etc. Playing just rec tennis I can see how they can last forever though.

That's weird, I have the Babolat Aero 12 pack and it has a medium and small sized outer compartments. I use one for misc. grips, usta book, keys, etc. the other smaller one fits my phone alone. Which one do you have?

Last generation's (the one that came with a separate portable cooler :twisted:, which I LOVE).

The outer accessory pocket is one big pouch with a smaller pouch inside. Not much is separated and in a sense, I have big pouches where my smaller/quick-grab items slush around inside. I'd have to run my hands inside and go on a treasure hunt to find my keys and energy drink tablets for example.

Ahhhh I see, yeah, mine is from the year before. Similar style but there is one other separate misc pocket. Kind of small for anything really so I just keep my watch and business cards in there. I see what you mean though, not enough compartments.

I'm glad the backpack straps come off, I hate holding a bag like that, looks so childish to me for some reason and they get in the way. My old wilson bag, the backpack part was fixed.

I sincerely believe that products are made lacking in a particular area so the need for another arises, or made to break so you'll need another. Some of the stuff released has common sense issues that it's just not possible that an intelligent well paid person would pass through as "their best work" in designing it. :?

I just got the 15-pack on sale for $25, so I've yet to put it to the test. It does have more outside accessories pockets (4) and seems reasonably well thought out.

I hope it holds up. I stress my bag the most by carrying a bunch of water bottles in it. I usually bring at least 2 liters of water to the court with me, when I'm training or going to be playing a match.

It should hold up fine. I was watching that Dimitrov/Federer match today, (or any Dimitrov matches), and he stuffed the crap out of that bag and it held up fine.

Granted, we don't know if he gets a new bag on a daily basis and the thing explode after one or two walks.
