Looking for suggestions on a poly.

Now I've been looking around for a poly that I love as much as black magic.

BHB7 was too mushy for me to enjoy on most shots but my serve.

Baseline control was great for the wallet and played well until I hit a stride and the strings got... stale? I don't know it was a weird sensation that was dead and rockety at the same time lol. It wasn't too bad though. Went through a reel pretty quickly with my friends.

Black magic has an exceptional feel of control for me. It's definitely on the softer side, but i can't get enough of the feel on impact. I feel so connected to the ball. Almost multi like imo. It's not sharp like my other favorite string (bhbr17), but has such a comfortable connection to the ball at impact.

So I might be looking for a slightly stiffer, BARELY stiffer, version of BM. I'm a 3.5-4.0. I hit relatively flat shots on both wings mostly during rallies, but I strive for my perfect balance of variety for match/point play. That being said I want something with just a tad more ZING than bm with the emphasis on similar FEEL.

I also like consistently rabid spin strings like BHBR17 lol. The feel is nice and sharp when I'm striking well and the spin is just plain fun sometimes.

That being said I was wondering a little bit about Twisted Razor. I've done a little reading about it, but I could use some more first hand accounts and string comparisons.

thanks guys!

From the sounds of this, I really recommend Black Code 18.
Incredible ball pocketing + amazing control + very comfortable[and not just for a poly]. It has this kind of plasticky feel which I really like, strangely.

The only weakness is spin, otherwise I would've gladly put down the $200 for a reel.

For reference, I strung it 63/60 on a 16x18 midsize racquet. Took an hour to break in.

From what I recall, Twisted Razor was powerful and probably similar to BHB7. Perhaps Solinco Tour Bite Soft (17g) would be too mushy for you, but I think you should try it first. The spin is incredible and it is a medium powered poly.

STBite SIXTEEN gauge, at 48 lbs. for a solid feel.
Lasts foreever, hit's hard, good pocketing, great bite.
On racket's bigger than 100, go tighter.
On 18x20 rackets, or smaller than 95, go softer.

Ever try cyclone? It feels pretty nice at low tensions.

Yeah i have in a few POG's and rebels. I agree I like it alot at around 50-52 for me. It just hasn't performed for me the way I need it to. I think maybe it's too powerful and the feel is... different for me. I might pick up a set to toss in my IG prestige mid.

Brother, I know what you're talking about. I kind of like that plasticky feel myself haha. I'll have to give it a try.

Oooh thanks for the heads up! Whenever i play with a string too mushy, I feel like I'm having a harder time focusing on my game just cause I don't like the feel lol.

Yeah i've actually had really good experiences with tour bite. I haven't gotten around to trying soft yet. Thanks leed, will look it up.

Cyclone 1.20 is a must try for anyone using poly. If you want other options that are on the crisp side BHSR 17 or Kirschbaum super smash orange or X are also nice.

If you want some lively and shaped polys, try:
signum pro tornado
genesis typhoon or twisted razor
topspin max rotation
polystar turbo
