After the first match, Rafa complained that he wasn't given a day's rest. LOL at you and your hypocritical bunch. Get a life
Its indoors Roger. The ONLY condition that gets you a bit of an advantage on Nadal and Nadal's weakest surface. Stop the excuses
Thanks for that mate!!
Fed has ALWAYS be favoured in the past, i don't see why he would complain now.
Maybe that why he is complaining
This proved to be crucial. Federer didn't have enough time to rest and was not able to perform up to par vs Nadal.
It made no difference at all. Nadal is just simply a better player than Federer on any surface at this point in their careers. Nadal was clearly the superior player today and rest had nothing to do with it. I say this as a huge Federer fan. You have to be able to admit when the other player is just better and not make excuses.
Someone is bitter. It would be beneficial to tennis if Federer organised a strike of the players who rely more on shot-making than rallying. We already have 1/3rd of the season on clay, a grass-court season that is essentially only one tournament and should be expanded (not to mention grass that has been ruined), and hard-courts all over that have been slowed down. Now the WTF surface has been ruined too.
Lets see how popular tennis would be if players like Federer, Tsonga, Del Potro weren't around, and fans had to settle for whiplash-enducing endless rallies between players like Nadal and Djokovic for hours and hours.
Yep. Fed is no Djokovic. That's for sure. Nadal loves playing Federer and hates playing Djokovic. It made no difference at all. It's funny how you always use the poor scheduling and tougher opponents for the reasons, as to why Sampras lost to Hewitt at the US Open 2001, yet the same excuse can't be used for Federer who is atm 2 years older than Sampras was then. Hypocrisy at it's finest.

And I suppose the courts being slowed down and bouncing higher, which favors Nadals game, has nothing to do with it?
Yes, this has been Federer's worst year since winning a major, but the match would have been different if the tournaments didn't keep screwing up the courts.
Federer should just threaten to retire unless they fix the court speeds. It would force the tournaments to realize that fans want to watch talented players and shot-making, not endless rallies.
No he didn't. He was asked about and this was his reply.
Q. You have to play again in 24 hours against someone who has had an extra day off. How do you think that will factor into the match?
RAFAEL NADAL: No, I would love to have one day off today because at the end I didn't have a lot of time to prepare this tournament.
Is always great when you win a match, then have a day off to confirm the feelings, to keep doing the things that you need to keep playing well.
But the tournament decide that is the other part of the draw, that they have the day off. So talking about physically, no, that's not going to affect for tomorrow. I didn't have very demanding physically match today. So I hope that will be 100% for tomorrow physically.
But talking about tennis, I would prefer to have one more day off. But that's what it is, and nothing. One or another group had to play this way. Was my one. Accept and try to play my best tomorrow.
He says, Yes of course it's nice to have a day off, but it cannot be said that he complained about it.
It's not as if this was a slam and they might have to play 5 sets. Any player who can't play at the most 3 sets, two days in a row should get into better shape.
Old-Pete is the measuring stick old-Roger has so far failed to live up to.
Court speed and bounces can favor one player over another, but at this point, I think Nadal can beat Federer head to head on any surface. Even in Federer's peak years, Nadal was just a difficult matchup for him, although he could still have success on some surfaces. Now that he is far off from his prime, he needs the surface to favor him to even have a chance.
As far as the surface at this particular tournament is concerned, I have not seen any unbiased evidence regarding the speed or bounce, so I am not interested in discussing it.
As a fellow Federer fan, I feel embarrassed by this sour grapes post. Federer does not need you to make excuses for him. He simply lost to a better player today, but has still had an amazing career.
This is one of the worst ideas I have ever heard. Thankfully, Federer actually has some class and would never do such a thing.

You're just a Nadal fan in disguise.
Fed: stop being a whiner. Djoko doesn't have a day off either and will have much less recovery time after having to play the night session. How dare you whimper like a narcissistic fool when others have it worse than you? Shame on you. Man up for pete's sake.
Reaction to Fed

you're a joke rofl
"I choose to play"
I wish they would stop asking Federer these retirement questions. They could harangue him out of the game before he really wants to go, and that is not fair on him. If he wants to play, he should be respected enough that he can do so without these harpies around him.
